I recently went to Charleston for the first time and was amazed by the history and sites of the town. I was equally amazed by our hotel, the Vendue Inn. Everyone working in the hotel was attentive, helpful, and friendly. Walking in the front door to check in I was taken back to the 1800's by way of the interior design, it was like walking straight into another place in time. The room we were given was AWESOME, and totally more than I had expected. The bathroom had a lounge, whirl pool and amazing decor. Best of all was the bed. Even though we had just checked in, i immediately wanted to snuggle into the 4 foot tall cloud. The hotel also offered bikes to explore the town on, which I took full advantage of! Another advantage to staying here was the great dinning offered, and they even have a rooftop bar overlooking the city. Overall I would return to the Vendue Inn anytime, and defiantly recommend anyone to stay there!

This historic hotel is in a great location, very close to Waterfront Park and within walking distance of great shopping and restaurants. The inn is very cozy and inviting. The rooms are furnished with antique furniture. My king bed was plush and comfortable, nice linens and soft pillows. There is a nice rooftop lounge. The complimentary cook-to-order breakfast was awesome! Customer service was superb. The cookies and milk at 9:00 really hit the spot!

The hotel is well located for seeing old Charleston and the staff is very friendly. The rooms are generally very nice although the beds are far too soft and might give you a morning back ache. Be sure you don't get a room which is "air-cooled" as they will be too hot. Get a regular air conditioned room.

The Vendue Inn is a great, affordable place to stay in downtown Charleston! I know some people are going to scoff at my calling it "affordable," but really for what you get it is quite a bargain. Spacious, well appointed rooms (our room had a fire place and large soaking tub as well), turndown service, a delicious breakfast and wine in the afternoon. Its right downtown in the french quarter, convenient to art galleries, small boutiques and excellent restaurants like Cyprus and S.N.O.B., and if you're up for a little bit of a walk (6-8 blocks) the King street shopping district is also very close.

I have stayed at the Vendue Inn once a year for the past 4 years, and my stay was wonderful each time. I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Charleston who is looking for a lovely small hotel in the middle of historic downtown.

We stayed at the Vendue, sight unseeen, based on the shining recommendation of friends, and could not have been any more pleased. Simply said, no one at the hotel could have gone further to provide extraordinary service in a fantastic setting. Our room was located at the annex directly across the street from the main hotel, a converted warehouse, with exposed brick, original beams, and a huge bed into which we were absorbed into sleep after the long walks which Charleston invites. The location is superb, only a short jaunt to the great dining offered on E. Bay Street, where an uber-world-class meal was appreciated at High Cotton. Wonderful property, gracious hosts, in a city where welcoming appears to be a practiced art.
