A simply charming, lovely hotel located just a few blocks from King Street. Beautiful grounds, a warm, welcoming staff and large, beautiful guest rooms. Many of the rooms have balconies, most have lovely sitting areas and very comfortable beds (great pillows!). The staff simply could not do enough to answer every question & handle reservations efficiently and with a smile. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed there one night. It was a gift from our children. What a grand mansion and the service was perfect. We stayed in room #6 which was on the first floor and had a private porch. We were close to the Happy Hour wine and appetizers and also the morning coffee and delicious pastries which are baked fresh everyday at Circa 1886 which was the old carriage house on the property. We had breakfast at Circa 1886 and it was really amazing with superb service. We want to have dinner there on our next trip to Charleston. We had two days of shopping in the beautiful city of Charleston and had the perfect place to stay overnight. Our room could not have been more lovely. Complimentary frig. & beverages, breakfast, free parking and more. It was a wonderful experience and we hope to be able to return someday. We ate dinner at FIG which was also amazing and I will write a separate review on that. Can't go wrong with this beautifully restored mansion!

Room Tip: There are 21 rooms. Our room was smaller than some, but very, very quiet. We never heard a sound a...

I chose Wentworth Mansion because my wife and her dog are inseparable, but will happily choose it again even if our dog does not accompany us on our next trip to Charleston. The staff and services at Wentworth Mansion are first class, the rooms are comfortable, quiet, and well appointed, and every detail contributes to a feeling that you are a welcome and special guest in an historic and beautifully restored mansion. Although WM is not cheap, it is a value if you consider the excellent breakfast in the adjoining restaurant, the afternoon wine and cheese, the minibar, the substantial discount on dinner at Circa 1886, the wifi, the port/sherry/brandy station, the availability of books, dvd's and other details, all provided without additional charge. Our dog was also welcomed and treated like he was a special guest. We were within walking distance of all the sights in Charleston and although we had our car, we never used it.
We would highly recommend WM to anyone visiting Charleston, but especially to anyone travelling with a dog. You will not be disappointed.

We spent the weekend here for my wife's birthday. Couldn't have picked a better place. Beautifully restored mansion within a few blocks of the heart of historic Charleston. Everything was perfect...room, restaurant, people, weather. Our room (#5) was originally the dining room of the mansion. It was spacious with a huge bay window and modern bathroom. Although it was adjacent to the common area where afternoon drinks and hors d'oeuvres were served it was quiet and comfortable. We took our drinks up to the cupola for a 360 degree view and sunset. Staff could not have been nicer, attentive to everything. Dinner and breakfasts at the restaurant were superb. I had antelope that was amazing. I'd mentioned that it was the wife's birthday when making the reservation and though the waiter told her "happy birthday" there was no embarrassing singing, etc. however her dessert plate had a birthday greeting written in chocolate. Classy place. On our last night there we returned from dinner in town to find candles and a bottle of champaign from the manager. We're a picky couple having stayed at some very nice places around the globe but we have nothing but praise for this place. Another highlight, Ms. Betty, the little black woman who brings pastries for breakfast in the restaurant and makes everyone feel like family is a true sweetheart who has been with the company for 32 years. We'll be back and next time will try the spa. I very highly recommend Wentworth Mansion without any reservation.

Thank you for the thoughtful review - and for treating your wife to a birthday celebration in Charleston. Sipping a drink on the cupola, dining at Circa 1886 and meeting Miss Betty at breakfast... you certainly enjoyed a true Wentworth Mansion experience. We look forward to hosting you both again. Many thanks for the kind words.

I reviewed quite a few inns prior to choosing the Wentworth and I am happy to say I believe we chose the best inn for our anniversary weekend. I knew this was going to be a different experience when I received a response to a question I had while booking online within 30 minutes. The concierges responded promptly to every email after that initial contact and even called me! Wow. They are a wealth of information and I urge you to use them. Very nice, efficient, friendly staff throughout the property.

We arrived prior to check-in but this happens frequently and they are prepared. They took our bags to a sitting room near the restroom so we could change into something more appropriate for walking. Very accommodating. It is a few blocks to King Street and then a few more blocks to East Bay. We did a lot of walking, which we don't mind. Once our room was ready, they called and let us know they had placed our bags in our room. Spoiler alert: They will ask what time your dinner reservations are in order to schedule turn-down service while you are dinner. Thinking one step ahead again.

The mansion has a wonderful storied past and is a beautiful building. Do go up to the roof and enjoy your drink while you look across Charleston. There is cold tea and lemonade or water available all day. Coffee and tea with croissants and pastries is available from about 6am on (my husband loves his coffee). Breakfast is included and everything we tried was delicious. Although, by the end of our visit I was asking for just fruit & yogurt! The wine and appetizers at 5pm is perfect after sightseeing all day. Stephanie was the perfect hostess. And my husband enjoyed the brandy available in the evenings. We couldn't ask for more. Oh one more, I asked about stamps for postcards and they told me to leave them at the desk and they would mail them for us. I'm still amazed at how accommodating the staff is. We weren't sure how to leave gratuities (since we rarely have cash). You can have it added to your bill upon departure.

We stayed in a mansion room, #19 which is very spacious with a sitting area in front of the fireplace and a nice bathroom with a double shower and a jacuzzi tub. The bed was very comfortable and it is dead quiet in the mansion at night. Perfect sleeping combination!

It was our 25th wedding anniversary and the concierge placed candles and champagne, along with a sweet congratulatory note in our room prior to returning one evening. Incredible customer service. It will be difficult to stay at another inn after having such a wonderful experience. Kudos to the staff and the management. If we return to Charleston, we will definitely stay at the Wentworth.

Room Tip: #19 is a large room on the East corner of the 4th floor. Large bathroom with dual shower stall and j...

My family and I stayed there August 2013. We have three kids and usually these boutique type hotels aren't all that kid friendly. Not the Wentworth. The staff there indulged my children's every whim. The hotel is so rich in history and architecture, it would be worth visiting even if the service wasn't good. But the service is great. For me, the most memorable part was when we had breakfast each morning, the waitress, while helping another table with their order, would over hear one of my kids asking me or something and she would come back with it without us even asking her. She was amazing. And she had such a bright and happy demeanor it was always a great way to start the day.

Room Tip: Take a trip up to the roof. The view is incredible.
