Owner description: There's no better way to see historic Charleston than from the vantage point of an Old South Carriage. Family owned and operated since 1983, Old South Carriage Company offers fully narrated hour-long tours by licensed guides wearing the Confederate uniform with the Red Sash. Come to our English-style stable at 14 Anson Street, just 2 blocks from The City Market and meet our friendly and professional staff. Reservations are not necessary as tours depart every 20 - 30 minutes throughout the day. A ramp leading to a platform makes boarding easy. Old South Carriage Company uses French Percherons and Belgian Draft horses. These sturdy employees vacation at Sugah Cain, the owner's 65-acre plantation on John's Island. For 2-3 months annually, these beautiful horses are free to run in large pastures or leisurely graze under century-old live oaks. Tours operate daily from 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 (DST) 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. (EST). ~Look for the Red Sash~ Our symbol of a quality horse-drawn carriage tour of Charleston, South Carolina.

“Fun history tour! ”
Reviewed 9 November 2013 via mobile

We took the carriage tour today and loved the history behind the city. Our guide Mike was both very informative and funny! He made the trip exciting holding on to every word he said. I would recommend this tour to everyone from young to old!

“Awesome”

GREAT history lesson of the old south. We had "Janice" as a guide. What a great person. She loves her job and it shows. She really knows how to show 'Y'all' a good time. If you ever come to Charleston, and want to see a great tour of the city, Old South Carriage Co., does it right. If you have the luck of the draw and get Janice, you got the best.

“One of the better carriage companies”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

I have been on many carriage tours and I almost always choose Old South. This time Evans was our tour guide/driver and he was great - very knowledgeable with a lot of humor thrown in. We got Route 3 which isn't the best, and had to detour around Second Sunday (King St. is closed to traffic), but still had a great time. If only routes could be guaranteed in advance; I may have taken three carriage tours to cover each route.

Tip: the lady at the ticket counter was telling other travelers that the $2 off coupon is the best available, but we found a $3 off coupon online... not much difference, but when you're talking $20 a pop, it's something!

“A fun and historic afternoon with our Guide Mike!”
Reviewed 24 October 2013

My wife and I were in town visiting Charleston and decided to take a tour with Old South Carriage tour. Mike was our guide and he was a lot of fun and very informative. We saw some beautiful homes and gardens and learned a lot about the History of Charleston. It was a fantastic ride and Mike - Bless his Heart - made it a great Day!

“Just a Wonderful Tour”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

Very nice place, kept well and the horses are pampered. The people running the tours and the people giving the tours are very polite and helpful, they explain to you anything you want to know.

We were fortunate to draw the Battery tour and I have to say its worth every penny - this coming from a guy who would rather be fishing.
