We just got back from Charleston. I used TA to book our room at the Fulton Lane Inn. The hotel is an older boutique hotel, but is very well kept. Our room was simple but clean. Well furnished and not crowded. The place is well located to the center of town. It was a short walk to anywhere in the historic district. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
We will go back!

Just got back so writing while fresh in my mind. It was a girl's weekend; my friend and I flew in and met up at the airport. We didn't rent a car so can't comment on ease/not of parking. Took the airport shuttle to the Inn for $12/person and taxi back was $18/person. Small lobby area; we were told it's staffed 24/7 when we asked if we had to worry about the front door getting locked. Apparently they do lock it at night but there's always someone there. Wonderfully friendly staff. Wish I could remember all the names. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, younger woman checked us in, we rec'd tasty recommendations for lunch a couple blocks away. We had a 2 queen bed room on the third floor facing the parking lot. When we booked it we were told that was the quiet side compared to the King Street side. It was quiet every night but Friday-there's another hotel/pool area across from the lot and that was noisy for a while, but then got quieter. Room was very large-I imagine there's a variety of room sizes. Sisal (?) rug was great on the feet after a long long day of walking everywhere! Beds were comfy; could have maybe used another dresser and a safe would have been nice but that the only 2 possible improvements. There's a fridge in the bathroom which was handy.

Continental b'fast comprises choices of several boxed cereals, different fruits, juices, pastries-enough to fill you up. The wine/cheese hour at the sister Inn next door was tasty with at least 6 varieties of wines offered along with cheeses, crackers, fresh salsa, or a spread of some sort.

The location was perfect for all the walking we did from Marion Square to the Aquarium to the Battery and back and forth. The best part was how nice all the help was-great suggestions for restaurants, nice people bringing the b'fast and working the wine/cheese events.

Would recommend!

The building is old but it's been kept up, was very clean and comfortable. The staff are sooo helpful and friendly. There is free sherry in the lobby, free room service for breakfast. The place is quiet and peaceful and has a very good location in the city's historic district. Next door, at it's sister inn...the King's Inn...there are free h'ourderves and drinks in the evenings from 5 to 6. It is also a great value and parking is free and right behind the building.

My husband and I were in Charleston to visit friends and do some sightseeing so we wanted a good location to start from. The Fulton Lane certainly provided that, however, we were disappointed that our experience didn't seem to be the same as some of the others on trip-advisor. While the front desk service was exceptional, the room itself left a lot to be desired. The room was outdated, the wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling, the showerhead and hairdryer both had to be replaced during our short stay. The hotel staff addressed the concerns quickly but for the rate we were paying, we didn't expect to have those issues. Overall, Fulton Lane is a fine place to stay if you are looking for a comfortable room and an ideal location in a beautiful city.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Fulton Lane Inn! My husband, 18-month-old daughter and I stayed in a King bed suite for 6 nights. It worked out SO well for us to have separate sleeping areas and lots of room in the bedroom, living room, and a great size for a bathroom! Everything was clean and we found the delivery of breakfast to our room to be a great treat! Especially traveling with a toddler. We chose what we wanted from a list for a continental breakfast and even could choose which time-frame we would like to have it delivered. It was simple (typical continental) but suited our needs perfectly.
The front desk/concierge staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful -- especially Sarah (I think she was there working almost every day that we were!) The location was great for quick access to restaurants, the carriage ride pick-up stations, shopping, etc. It is close to the market area but we did not notice any noise issues at all.
We would definitely stay here again and would give high recommendations for others to do the same!

Fulton Lane Inn is in a great location and reasonably priced for Charleston. We booked a standard room with a king bed and upon check-in were upgraded to a deluxe king room. The deluxe king had a jetted tub and a small kitchenette. I would have been satisfied without either. The bathroom was a comfortable size with plenty of counter space for toiletries. The small table with 2 chairs that was tucked in the corner of the bedroom was barely adequate to seat 2 people for breakfast. It was not an area where you could comfortably sit down and read the paper or relax reading a book. We found the king bed to be very comfortable and surprisingly the pillows were as well. (I've stayed at too many places that had rock hard pillows.) Our room and the common areas were clean and well maintained. The staff were consistently pleasant and helpful.

Thank you f for choosing Fulton Lane Inn for its location and value. Our staff takes great pride in delivering personal service. All room configurations are different since it is a renovation of a historic building. On your next visit we will see that you have a room with more space to enjoy our complimentary breakfast. Staying at this wonderful inn was the result of reading hundreds of TripAdvisor reviews for perhaps ten different hotels. The 40-room Fulton Lane Inn in is one of four Charming Inns of Charleston (a group) that is located in the heart of the buzz on busy King Street (the Rodeo Drive of Charleston - bring your heavy duty credit cards).

This hotel is sized perfectly to be called an inn. It is cozy, incredibly quiet and exhudes warm Southern hospitality with grace and efficency. The decor is sage green with white trim and rich sissel carpeting throughout. Rooms are spacious, the bathrooms and amenities pristine and well thought out. Breakfast is actually delivered right to your room at time you select - their coffee is killer. Both dry and cream sherry are available in the lobby during the afternoons while you ponder your next choices for dinner. The list is endless!

Praises to Sarah, Susu and Nathan - concierges who know almost everything about Charleston. They tirelessly set guests up with restaurants, tours, shopping, airport shuttles and special events - including two weddings during my time there. I cannot find enough words to compliment these good people for making my weeklong stay such a success. The next time I am in Charleston, look for me at the Fulton Lane Inn.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A romantic hideaway in America’s most enchanting city, The Fulton Lane Inn is private, intimate and exceptionally accommodating. The Fulton Lane Inn surrounds you with the comfort and gracious ambiance of a bygone era. Many of our spacious rooms feature oversized whirlpool baths and luxurious canopied beds, draped with hand strung netting. Other rooms boast cathedral ceilings and several offer fireplaces.Throughout, soaring windows frame captivating vistas of the city's historic skyline, punctuated with the many trademark church spires. The charm and spirit of the Old South live on in this historic inn, built by the family of Confederate blockade runner John Rugheimer. Regarded as the most sophisticated city in America, antebellum Charleston was the cradle of Southern gentility. The proper Charleston home then welcomed summer's casual pace by covering formal furnishings in airy muslin, replacing wool carpets with sisal, and positioning shutters to admit fresh breezes and to provide gentle shade. At the Fulton Lane Inn, that spirit has been beautifully recaptured. Here, light filters softly through louvered shades, casting an inviting glow on lush plants. The patina of fine woods, natural textures and soft pastels invite you to indulge in the simple pleasures of a more gracious time. During your stay, you'll be pampered with complimentary continental breakfast delivered to your room each morning. Our traditional Southern hospitality continues with sherry in the lobby each evening. Of course, our concierge is always at hand to attend to your every need. You're just a mere stroll from the famous harbor, historic homes and attractions. The Fulton Lane Inn is situated just off King Street, tucked away on a pedestrian lane in the heart of the city's famous historic district. The inn is literally surrounded by countless fascinating boutiques, scores of antique shops and elegant restaurants. There are countless ways to enjoy the Fulton Lane Inn. ... more   less
