Excellent wedding night hotel! Greeted by a congratulatory note and a bottle of bubbly. As with any R & C property, every detail was looked after. The room was extremely spacious, well appointed, spotless, amazing bathroom, etc. Breakfast was fabulous. Perfect way to spend our first night!

When you walk through the doors of the Planters Inn, you are transported to another time of true Southern Hospitality. The food is excellent, the room is beautiful, the staff members are delightful and have true manners. To put the cherry on the cake, we were given a good discount as we booked in advance. The Planters Inn does charge more than the standard hotels in Charleston, but in this case you definitely get what you pay for. Everyone should treat themselves to at least a night or two at the Planters Inn when visiting Charlestown. CCP

Dear Carla C,

You have pointed out one of the most charming characteristics of our circa 1844 property. As the only historic Inn on the City Market, we agree with the feeling you described of being “transported to another time”. We are happy to hear you appreciated our southern hospitality and enjoyed your time with us. Our location and service are second to none in the city and combined with our Peninsula Grill we truly are on the best small hotels in the country.
Thank you for your time and comments and we look forward to the next time you “treat yourself” to a return visit.
Best,
Bradley Dickerson

Stayed here for a second time in as many years, timed to coincide with our 2 year wedding anniversary.

So relaxing. Amazing service. Lovely room. Really luxurious. And the best homemade lemonade and their speciality orange mango spiced iced tea, complimentary all day, make this such a great hotel.

Perfectly located for shops, restaurants and all attractions - even the battery is walkable. Loved it and the bears are such a nice touch! I wish we could go at Christmas to experience the decorations and the in-room fires!

I've stayed at a lot of high end hotels around the world - this is my absolute favourite. We will be back!

Room Tip: Corner rooms are best; higher up if possible but even a ground floor room is beautiful.

We arrived without reservations and the male desk clerk was very accommodating, going over each room and rate with us and even showed us a room. He upgraded our room and gave us a discount since it was already around 4:00. Great location and a great staff. Came back to the room around 8:00 and we had turn down service, with some soothing tunes playing.

What a great staff! You are really made to feel at home in this cozy, small hotel located right in the center of Charleston. Can't beat the location. Some noise as a tradeoff, but you can walk anywhere. Staff was very helpful with recommendations. Doesn't hurt to have the best restaurant in town on the premises either.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms directly facing Market street because of noise.

When looking for somewhere to stay we decided on Planter's Inn based on some pictures and its location at the very heart of Charleston. What we discovered while staying there was that they provide you with an experience not based on high tech gadgetry or cheap props, but with charm and warmth. They pay attention to detail. Whether it is the complimentary lemonade and iced tea to the turn down service at the end of the night, they know how to provide their customers with a memorable experience while being unobtrusive. Each concierge we dealt with was nothing but hospitable and polite, taking extra care to provide any necessary help to the guests. The valets were also incredibly helpful in parking and retrieving our vehicle, assisting in carrying our luggage, and offering to provide advice and directions. On this point I would like to take the opportunity to highlight that the two most helpful of this tremendous staff of valet and bellmen, William and Bo, were a pleasure to deal with and that Planters Inn is lucky to have them. From the experience that we received at this hotel, I know for sure that each time I go to Charleston, I will be staying at Planters Inn. It's clean, affordable, historic, and bursting with charm and warmth.

Room Tip: We stayed on the fourth floor facing Market Street. The view was amazing. Our room was called &quo...
