Perfect location, beautifully appointed, exceptional service, comfortable beds, spacious and quiet.
The parlor is a nice touch that serves little bites, coffee or tea throughout the day. We were able to walk everywhere from
The nicest restaurants to the marketplace, shopping, mansions and shore.

We have visited Charleston many times but never had the experience we had while staying at the Planter's Inn. The rooms are well appointed and spacious with classic southern charm, and enormous bathrooms. The staff is very knowledgeable about the city and made some wonderful recommendations. They helped arrange a lovely private carriage ride and one of the best walking tours I have ever received. This trip was a tenth wedding anniversary and the hotel really went out of their way to help us celebrate, with special greetings, champagne and little treats. Best of all the inn is attached to the world famous Peninsula Grill. The location is perhaps the best in the city, allowing you to walk to any place you would care to visit. There is no other property to even consider when in Charleston...this is the one. A very special place in a very special city.

I was here two nights on a business trip...and did NOT want to leave!! This hotel has all the amenities of a large institution with the charm of a well-appointed B&B. The rooms are stunning...and very comfortable! Complete with high quality furnishings, linens, technology and small touches. My favorite 'touch' was the larger parlor off the lobby that was stocked with delicious southern delicacies day and night. And did I mention location? In the middle of everything. Across from the Market and in walking distance to all of Charleston's best restaurants. My wife and I have already booked a stay for the fall.

Room Tip: I was on the first floor and there was a little street noise from cars and pedestrians. I suspect t...

Dear we4steeds,

Upon occasion, we read of a new guest that offers a description of their visit that is exactly what we hope to offer each and every guests. The “Discovery” of Planters Inn and all that it has to offer is that extra something intangible our most loyal guests appreciate most. We strive to exceed expectations with warm, friendly and efficient service; however, it is the combination of all the factors that make our property such a special place to visit and enjoy Charleston. We are happy you discovered us and look forward to seeing you on your upcoming fall visit!

Spent a night at Planters Inn passing through to Hilton Head. Location is nice if you want to stay in downtown Charleston. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The valet was great. He made sure we had a place to unload luggage at the front door. That can be difficult in this part of town in the summer.

We enjoyed the quaint feeling in the hotel. There was a lounge/reading room off the entrance that had fresh lemonade-nice touch. The floors on the main floor were old, large plank wood.

Our room was nice and had the old, historic feel. The good and bad of this hotel is its location. It's at the center of a lot of downtown sites and activities. The problem with that is that it can be a little noisy. Keep in mind, all of the properties in this area are very old-we were happy to take a little noise to be in a quaint hotel in a good location. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in a room on the back side of the hotel if possible. It may be a little quieter if that...

Dear Yenti67,
We are pleased to read you enjoyed our prime location and “very helpful and friendly staff”. It is true, we are surrounded by all that Charleston has to offer and guests enjoy the historic district , just steps from our doors. The charm you describe of our public areas and ambiance found inside our doors is something extra that cannot be matched in most of the properties in Charleston. Our guest rooms are second to none with overall spaciousness, quality furnishings and décor, and modern amenities. We appreciate your business and thank you for taking a moment to share your experiences and please join us again soon.

The Planters Inn exemplifies southern hospitality in the heart of Charleston. The service from the bell hop, the front desk, and the housekeeping staff was impeccable. The availability of refreshments and treats really hits the spot on a hot summer day. We stayed in a plantation king room which was very generous in size. Because the hotel is only four stories tall and it is on a busy street there is some street noise as other reviewers had noted. If you are a light sleeper reserve an interior view overlooking the courtyard. However, the hotel has made significant attempts to help with noise reduction. The interior window shutters as well as in room white noise machines address any noise problem there may be. The only minor issue we had during our three night stay was timing of turn down service. Every night we got a knock on the door around 5:30/6:00 as we were getting dressed to go to dinner by housekeeping offering turn down service. We asked each night for them to come back after 6:30 but they never did. Most hotels we've stayed at offer turn down service after 7:00 pm. By no means was this an issue just an observation. While at the Planters Inn be sure to stop in the Pennisula Grill for their out of this world coconut cake! It is twelve layers of heaven!

Room Tip: Ask for the fourth floor exterior for some views or fourth floor interior for a quieter room.

My first impression of this hotel was picturesque, charming, sweet and old fashioned. The staff at the front desk was very polite and helpful. The manager was nice enough to show us our room since the bell boy was not available at that moment. The room was rather large with a foyer leading to the bedroom. Bathroom was a little tired but the charm of the hotel more than made up for it. They had an amazing restaurant called Hanks. We had the best seafood dinner with 30 of our family members. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Charleston had been on my bucket list for years so it was a trip I planned for many months and Planters Inn was at the top of my list. That being said the only thing one can not plan for is the weather needless to say it was monsoon raining during my stay.
To say that put a damper on things is putting it mildly. Did I mention cold it was rainy and cold. That ended the walking part of Charleston for us however we were able to take a horse carriage and had a delightful tour in the rain of this beautiful city with a very experienced tour guide who made our stay very lovely. Since most of the streets were flooded from the constant rain our choices of dining were limited to where we could walk with an umbrella. Fortunately for us the Peninsula Grill was a great choice. Everything about this restaurant is top-notch from the service the food to the presentation. The only negative for me was the coconut cake which I was drooling over and dreaming of having however when it arrived it tasted stale.
Our other meals at Brassiere Gigi were unbelievably delicious and that turned out to be my favorite place to go to.
The hotel itself is very charming very elegant very perfectly situated. The rooms are well appointed however I would agree that a refrigerator would be a nice touch.
It has one of the friendliest staff of employees I've ever met in my travels and I would like to add that they were very accommodating when we decided to cut our trip short two days due to the bad weather.I would return again in the sunshine to really experience this beautiful city

Dear JudyG,
We are happy to read our service and excellent restaurants were just the right touch to keep you occupied and enjoying your visit during a less than desirable weather forecast. Thank you for your review and we would more than happy to help plan your return trip as Charleston has far too much to offer for a return visit where we average over 300 days of sunshine per year! Call us when you are ready!
