Very helpful staff clean room, good service daily. I would stay here again if I ever come back to Charleston. I would also recommend to a friend. Great location. They also kept out bags all day and evening after we checked out as we shopped and made the most of our last day.

I am very picky when it comes to hotels, and this place truly blew me away. My husband were in Charleston celebrating a special occasion, and Planters Inn came recommended by a friend. From arrival to departure, the service and accommodations were beyond outstanding. After this experience, I do not think I can stay anywhere else in Charleston. It is worth every penny, and kudos to Planters for the most genuine and hospitable staff around. I can't believe it isn't rated number 1 on trip advisor; it is truly a top notch luxury hotel, and the location couldn't be better.

Dear 77brina,
Being “Very Picky” has its advantages and especially your eyes for great detail. We all loved reading your recent posting and especially the suggestions for our ranking to be slightly higher than it is also a nod to our team. We appreciate your kind words and are always pleased to hear such praise from guests after they experience a level of service that mirrors the superior surroundings and physical attributes of a charming historic building such as the 1844 Planters Inn. It is with great pleasure that we say Thank you and please join us again for another visit to the heart of Charleston.

Spent 5 nights at Planters Inn, great room, so nice, comfortable and relaxing. The furnishing and amenities great. Had a nice big room, Plantation King, room 223. Housekeeping is some of the best I have experienced, they really care and the room everyday, just perfect and fresh!
Very quiet with little of the street noises I had read about in some reviews here. The room overlooked Meeting Street, the main thoroughfare, but the noise was never a problem and I enjoyed 5 blissful nights of sleep.
The parlor is welcoming with a nice cool iced tea when you come in from the heat which effected the southeast US this past week. The turn-down service at night with a small sweet taste from the Peninsula Restaurant was just perfect.
The staff were just great, always accommodating and able to guide me through the maze of beautiful, interesting and historic attractions nearby as well as point me in the right direction when wanting to have a superb meal close by. All in all a wonderful experience. I'm returning when next bound for Charleston.

Room Tip: was very comfortable in the old building, the hotel structure came in 2 stages, 1880's and 1920...

Perfect location, beautifully appointed, exceptional service, comfortable beds, spacious and quiet.
The parlor is a nice touch that serves little bites, coffee or tea throughout the day. We were able to walk everywhere from
The nicest restaurants to the marketplace, shopping, mansions and shore.

We have visited Charleston many times but never had the experience we had while staying at the Planter's Inn. The rooms are well appointed and spacious with classic southern charm, and enormous bathrooms. The staff is very knowledgeable about the city and made some wonderful recommendations. They helped arrange a lovely private carriage ride and one of the best walking tours I have ever received. This trip was a tenth wedding anniversary and the hotel really went out of their way to help us celebrate, with special greetings, champagne and little treats. Best of all the inn is attached to the world famous Peninsula Grill. The location is perhaps the best in the city, allowing you to walk to any place you would care to visit. There is no other property to even consider when in Charleston...this is the one. A very special place in a very special city.

I was here two nights on a business trip...and did NOT want to leave!! This hotel has all the amenities of a large institution with the charm of a well-appointed B&B. The rooms are stunning...and very comfortable! Complete with high quality furnishings, linens, technology and small touches. My favorite 'touch' was the larger parlor off the lobby that was stocked with delicious southern delicacies day and night. And did I mention location? In the middle of everything. Across from the Market and in walking distance to all of Charleston's best restaurants. My wife and I have already booked a stay for the fall.

Room Tip: I was on the first floor and there was a little street noise from cars and pedestrians. I suspect t...

Dear we4steeds,

Upon occasion, we read of a new guest that offers a description of their visit that is exactly what we hope to offer each and every guests. The “Discovery” of Planters Inn and all that it has to offer is that extra something intangible our most loyal guests appreciate most. We strive to exceed expectations with warm, friendly and efficient service; however, it is the combination of all the factors that make our property such a special place to visit and enjoy Charleston. We are happy you discovered us and look forward to seeing you on your upcoming fall visit!

Spent a night at Planters Inn passing through to Hilton Head. Location is nice if you want to stay in downtown Charleston. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The valet was great. He made sure we had a place to unload luggage at the front door. That can be difficult in this part of town in the summer.

We enjoyed the quaint feeling in the hotel. There was a lounge/reading room off the entrance that had fresh lemonade-nice touch. The floors on the main floor were old, large plank wood.

Our room was nice and had the old, historic feel. The good and bad of this hotel is its location. It's at the center of a lot of downtown sites and activities. The problem with that is that it can be a little noisy. Keep in mind, all of the properties in this area are very old-we were happy to take a little noise to be in a quaint hotel in a good location. We would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask to stay in a room on the back side of the hotel if possible. It may be a little quieter if that...
