My wife and I recently spent five days at Zero Water Street and we had an exceptional experience. The accommodations located in an historic ante bellum mansion were breathtaking. A beautifully decorated apartment consisting of a hallway, living room, bedroom, bathroom and kitchen comprises the entire top floor of the home. As magnificent as the furnishings are, however, is the million dollar view from the piazza. The cool breezes coming in from the harbor and the unbelievable view were truly the highlights of our stay. The mansions along the Battery are the pride of Charleston and a prime spot for the many carriage tours that visit the area. We always got a kick listening to the tour operators as they described "our house"!
Charleston is a unique historical city. We took a walking tour, a carriage tour, a harbor tour and a plantation tour- each of them was valuable in terms of the historical perspective they lent about a fascinating city and the fascinating times that impacted its history. And just when we thought we couldn't walk another step, we had plenty of energy to walk to a number of fine restaurants all within a short stroll from the B&B. Particular favorites were Magnolia, Cru, Circa 1886 and Slightly North of Broad. But perhaps the best part of each evening was returning to our palace in the sky. Thank you to Cordes for her hospitality- we had a wonderful time!
