The charm, elegance and style of this beautifully kept B&B are evident the minute you enter the gorgeous foyer . The staff was delightful, the food delicious. My room , the Linden , outstanding with its canopy bed, fireplace and porch ( entered through triple- hung windows and nestled in a live oak) was exceptional. Don't pass this up!

I wanted to stay in an older Charleston building and this B&B was wonderful. The house dates back to the 1700s and the history of its original owners is very interesting. The service was excellent. The location is great; in a beautiful neibourhood. Charleston is spread out, so some sights were a bit of a walk, but we loved this spot as it was close to the point where we could watch the sun set over the water in the evening and then in the morning walk east to photograph the houses on the river bathed in morning light. One of the pleasures for me was walking through the streets.

We had the Magnolia room which was large, comfortable, well decorated and quiet. My foreign credit card didn't go through the first time, so if this happens to you, ask for them to their on their other machine, that worked for us.

My first for staying in a Bed & Breakfast and visiting beautiful Charleston, SC. The house is absolutely beautiful from the wood floors to the spiral staircase to the furnishings. The room I stayed in was The Middleton Suite. The room was everything and better than the pictures on their website. The bed was very comfortable, pillows were wonderful (I usually bring my pillow from home put did not and slept peacefully.) The room was quiet hardly knew if there were other guests and very little outside noise. The room has these amazing triple hung windows that you can open and walk out onto the upper veranda that is furnished so you can sit outside and enjoy the beauty. You can take in the beauty of the the surrounding area. The Staff at the Inn are the "heart" of this beautiful historic Inn. They went out of their way to make my stay a memorable one. You just need to ask and they will go out of their way to see to your requests. The breakfasts were terrific and gorgeously presented. It was enjoyable sitting around and visiting with other guests. Afternoon tea was a real treat for this northern girl. The Staff gave me suggestions on what and where the sites are located, the different tours, and places to eat. The Broad Street location is central to just about everything. Loved that most everything was in walking distance. I enjoyed my walks to the battery and other historic sites that this truly beautiful city has to offer. I would highly recommend this inn.

From the moment we were warmly welcomed at the door to our departing goodbyes, this Inn met all our expectations....and then some! We arrived in adverse weather conditions but our hosts quickly made us feel welcome with some wonderful suggestions of what to do, sitting with us by the fire in the parlor and giving us a brief history of the Inn. Our room was just perfect- The Magnolia Room on the third floor- charming, very comfortable bed and my favorite view of an old magnolia that I can imagine has witnessed much history over its years! The staff were so pleasant and breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented- each entree had a side of fresh fruit and each day a protein to keep us going for our daily touring of the city( I also was told that if we were interested in any alternative: cereal or yogurt, etc. that would be not a problem). The Inn itself is beautifully appointed, very quiet and in a fabulous location to everything- we did not have a car and felt that we were able to get around absolutely fine. We were just a short walk from the historic heart of Charleston- fine restaurants, many art galleries, historic buildings, museums, and shopping on King St. There are many B&Bs to choose from in this area of Charleston, but it is hard to imagine one that offers so much as the Governor's House Inn.

We were in the Orange Grove Room and loved it. The house is just beautiful. Breakfast both days were over the top as well as the afternoon tea. The staff was very helpful, but our favorite part was the cat and his nightly visit to our room. Worth the price.

Nice old house, we stayed in Wegener's room. Enjoyed the breakfast and nightly wine and snacks. Never met the owners which was disappointing. The "staff" were friendly, some more helpful than others. Met different staff each day, not what we expected froma B & B.
