Amazing produce in late August! Many items, edible and otherwise, unique items. I found a beautiful hand made hand bag which I will treasure as a reminder of a lovely day. Go hungry as there are little stands making unique food. Lots of "characters" to watch also. And dogs...Gotta love the doggies!

Friday night movies in the square--bring a blanket, chairs and snacks.
Saturday farmer's market is outstanding, with pastries, fruit, veggies, nuts, flowers, honey, cheese, artisans.

If you are visiting on a Saturday...VISIT the Farmers Market in Marion Square! Awesome....uniques art/artists, entertainment/music, great food vendors, farmers, EVERYTHING! And if you are fortunate enough to be in town when another event is going on, then lucky you! When nothing is scheduled at Marion Square, it is still a beautiful Green Space in the city. Always someone fun to watch in the square.

I always visit the Farmers Market in Marion Square when I'm in Charleston. A variety of items are sold here by local farmers and artists. Booths have fresh local produce and many varieties of foods to be eaten on the spot or taken home and prepared. Local artists are selling everything from paintings, pictures, jewelry, coasters with Charleston scenes, pottery, mosaic glass work, and sculptures. The Farmers Market is open on Saturdays from 8am-2pm and runs April through December.

Unless you are visiting Charleston during one of its major events such as Spoleto or the Wildlife festival, the Square is pretty bare. In the spring/summer there is a decent Farmer's Market. Otherwise, it is a frequent meeting place for walking tours and close to Starbuck's located in the Francis Marion Hotel. There are plans to rejuvenate the Square in the future.
