Owner description: Bright green public space overlooking the coast: great for picnics and lounging.

Charleston is a a true walking town. Find a place to park 2 blocks or 10 blocks away, it doesn't matter. Depending on how much you would like to walk, there is a parking garage on East Bay St, or at the visitor's center. One is one hot spot area, and the other is in the other. Below Calhoun is the oldest and most historic parts of the city. Above Calhoun is a younger crowd for late night, but some great restaurants and roof tops for dinner and drinks. My point is, if you walk by the waterfront, eventually you'll find Rainbow Row, and Battery Park. So my advice is park anywhere and walk. You also have Bicycle rickshaws to take you most anywhere in the downtown area.

Photo ops At both the pineapple fountain and the waterfront fountain as well as the harbor. Be sure to do early morning photos (6:30 - 8:00) before tourist appear. Don't bother to go in the evenings during the summer, children are playing in both.

Take a break on the swings in the shade and experience the harbor and true Charleston.Watch the freighters and eat at Fleet Landing next door for great food/service.

What a beautiful spot and the fountains are an amazingly fun and free attraction for kids. Will definitely visit here again.

It's a beautiful, relaxing area just a couple blocks from downtown. Nice place to stop, relax and enjoy the big porch like swings. There aren't many so you might have to wait a bit for one. There's also the fountain the kids like to get wet in and the famous pineapple fountain that you can also take a dip in. From here, you can take a walk to the battery and see some of the "mansions" of Charleston. You must stop by!
