Charleston is a a true walking town. Find a place to park 2 blocks or 10 blocks away, it doesn't matter. Depending on how much you would like to walk, there is a parking garage on East Bay St, or at the visitor's center. One is one hot spot area, and the other is in the other. Below Calhoun is the oldest and most historic parts of the city. Above Calhoun is a younger crowd for late night, but some great restaurants and roof tops for dinner and drinks. My point is, if you walk by the waterfront, eventually you'll find Rainbow Row, and Battery Park. So my advice is park anywhere and walk. You also have Bicycle rickshaws to take you most anywhere in the downtown area.
