My wife had a citizenship ceremony at Middleton Place on July 1st 2011, and since we were bringing our three kids and my mom and stepdad, we needed a central location for all of us. We wanted to be close to Middleton Place (north of the hotel) for my wife's ceremony, close to Folly Beach (south) for our kids, and close to the historic district (east) for my mom and stepdad. This hotel was the perfect spot, 20 minutes or less to each of those three. The pool is small, but since my kids are little it didn't matter much. Breakfast was good. The staff even helped me find my 22-month old when she escaped from the room and got on the elevator by herself. Good stay overall, comfortable clean rooms, good rates, room for 6 with two queens and a foldout couch, no complaints. Thanks!!

This was a great hotel...very clean, very accomidating, nice breakfast, and rather close to downtown Charleston, or Mt. Pleasant, via I-526. About the only downside I have is the traffic noise. You are literally surrounded by big highways. U.S. 17 borders the south, South Carolina 7 on the west and north, and I-526 on the east. By using the a/c fan, we could drown out the noise of U.S. 17 pretty good (our room faced the road) at night. But it would be my suggestion to ask for a room away from this street.

We would, however, return to this location on another Charleston visit. It has a great indoor pool, and nice exercise room area. Getting to this hotel is somewhat of a trick. If on I-526, you have to proceed through one red light, and turn directly right at a second, onto U.S. 17 South. The hotel's only entrance is on U.S. 17 South, and you cannot access it from U.S. 17 North directly. You have to go down and U-turn back. To go to downtown Charleston, you have to do the opposite...go down and U-turn at the light on the southeast side of the building.

Don't let this review scare you away. The room we had was first rate, and the staff was very helpful. Just be ready for a bit of traffic noise, and restricted ways into the parking area.

We had a group of 75 from ages 1 to 81 for a week long mission trip. The hotel staff was patient, friendly, and extremely accomodating for such a large group. The rooms were great and the breakfast was very nice with exceptionally helpful kind hostesses. If we do a return trip, we will definitely stay here again. Your staff helped make for a successful week.

This hotel was great!

Pros: great location, about 5 miles from Charleston's historic district and about 12 miles from Folly beach, great mattress, clean, new, free parking, decent hot breakfast, big room, quiet, good price, small but good workout facility

Cons: staff was not overly friendly, some didn't even acknowledge us when we walked through the doors in the late evening; also, maybe they should put up a sign for kids to NOT use the waffle maker :) small pool (indoors only)

Where to eat: Mad River (in the downtown market area) - awesome food! Also, buy some of the Charleston Ice (like shaved ice) from a street vendor. That stuff is good!
D.D. Peckers (not far from the hotel) has some awesome wings. It's a little hole in the wall type place, but it was good!

80 People from our church stayed at this hotel for a week while doing mission work in the city of Charleston. The rooms were great and so was the service. Our youngest child has food allergies and wasn't able to eat much from the breakfast bar and Cynthia, who was in charge of the breakfast bar, offered to go to the store on her own time and purchase some food that our son could eat for the remainder of the week - incredible!! We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Only negative is the pool is too small

We arrived exhausted and frazzled and had an exceptional time here. The pool was enjoyed immensely by 11 yr old. Breakfast was outstanding every day (here for just 2 days) Servers Cynthia and Charlotte were efficient and friendly put them down for a raise they work very hard!! All of the hotel staff was so helpful and professional rrooms were spacious and very clean. Water pressure great. Easy to get where you needed to be next to interstate and Hwy 17 even though a drive needed to public beach it was worth the extra 10minutes in the car to stay here.

It was an easy drive to downtown from this hotel and we enjoyed our 2-night stay for a fraction of the cost of others in closer proximity. Beds were very comfortable, towels were thick and soft, and the breakfast was very adequate and varied with eggs and sausage one morning and biscuits and gravyanother. The only complaint would be about the airconditioning. I love the control on the wall as a digital read but to put the actual fan unit right next to the bed and not the sofa seems wrong. It was too loud and I had to keep the temp high or would freeze right next to the air. I always love hotels that keep their air coming from the ceiling. But this is a very nice hotel and would be happy to stay there again
