Description: Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar opened in 2009, reviving the former Amen name of Cumberland Street and restoring this historic corner. The new renovation stays true to the beauty of the original 1800's architecture while creating a comfortable atmosphere for contemporary life. Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor. The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish. We are open for lunch and dinner. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are accepted as well.

“Avoid the bar, get a table”
Reviewed 17 November 2013

Normally when visiting a city, a good bar can be a great place to begin. Not here. Waiter was a college kid with a personality extraction and the raw bar shucker was angry at the world. Food was so-so, wouldn't make it in a real "foody" analysis. Great location, get a reservation -- they stay busy for reasons more closely tied to location than food quality.

“So glad we tried this place .....”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

They serve k-ck a-- Bloody Marys! Correction .... make that K-CK A-- Bloody Marys. When the server delivered mine I said “If this tastes half as good as it looks, I’ll be happy.” It tasted twice as good as it looked.

The concierge at our hotel recommended this place when we asked where we could get the best oysters on the half shell in town. They have a wide selection to choose from. The Washburn (MA) oysters we ordered were superb. Big. Juicy. Not too salty. Complimented that Bloody Mary beautifully. Or was it the Bloody Mary that complimented the oysters?

The mussels were on the small side but good. Cooked in a tomato-based broth that paired well with the fresh crusty bread. The calamari was enough for two to share. We were not too sure about it at first as the breading was not crispy, but it sure was tasty and cooked exactly to the right consistency. No rubbery octopus here!

The music couldn’t have been better for our taste .... Beatles, John Lennon, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Beach Boys ... and then just as we started our second Bloody Mary (how can anybody drink just one?) the Rolling Stones ‘Gimme Shelter’ provided the perfect background finale to an unexpectedly great lunch. Previously under our restaurant radar in Charleston, it’s a real ‘find’ ... We will return!

“Great meal and fabulous company”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

Recently had a week in Charleston exploring not only this fabulous city but also the swamps and sea islands. With all that activity, sustenance was paramount and Charleston doesn't disappoint. We had fantastic meals everywhere we went but particularly enjoyed Amen. We not only had great company sitting at the table beside us who were happy to share their experience and advice, but out food was beautiful. I had the Hushpuppies, fried green tomatoes and then a salmon salad. My friend had a fabulous burger. Our server was efficient, professional and friendly. Loved it.

“Great Happy Hour”
Reviewed 14 November 2013

A great spot to enjoy both food and drink specials at happy hour. Professional and attentive bar service, comfortable atmosphere with good background music, great fried green tomatoes with sweet and spicy okra and pimento cheese besides oysters at bargain prices. The crabcake was very good too, and I plan to return for dinner.
