This was our first weekend bike tour and I was a little anxious. I am a weekend, rather than an avid cyclist like my husband. Alex and his wife Karen were warm, welcoming and helped me quickly get over any nervousness. Alex is a life long Charleston resident and avid historian and throughout our tour, he provided lots of interesting details.
The food and restaurants were superb and the picnic at the tea plantation was over the top. The biking was fun and the pace was perfect. We plan on booking the Beaufort and Savannah trip this fall. Highly recommend.

Thanks for the excellent review . Happy to hear you will be back to join for a three day tour of Beaufort and Savannah. This is our most fun tour. Were addindg this fall a one time tour of a Frank Lloyd Wright designed property(only plantation he designed). Its only available to be seen one weekend every two years. Also will tour two plantations and two historic homes. And two gourmet picnics serving some more fine southern cuisine.

We (two couples) arrived on Thursday. Alex picked us up & after taking us to our hotel, which was wonderful, the ladies went on a Garden Tour of Charleston, so beautiful! The husbands went on an historic tour which they enjoyed. The weekend's biking was diverse & interesting. We visited an actual plantation one day & the only tea plantation in the US the following day. Alex & Karen picked out great restaurants & made a delicious picnic for the one time we were too far out of town. I felt that we saw almost all there was to see & enjoyed every minute! We would definitely go back to join them in Beaufort & Savannah!

Charleston Biking Tours was the perfect way for me, my husband, and our 2 daughters (ages 22 and 15) to experience Charleston for the first time. Alex and Karen are such kind, experienced and knowledgeable hosts. They share their love for their city (home) and its colorful history with true Southern Hospitality. The sights, sounds and foods were beyond our expectations. The ride to the Tea Plantation and our private picnic was very special. What did we learn you ask? We learned that if by land, sea or bike Charleston we will be back. In fact I am up for a bike ride to Savannah is any one going to join me? Thank you, Alex and Karen for making this Spring Break so memorable.

My wife and I arrived a day early so Alex provided info for a nice extra ride as a warm up to our three day trip. Alex and Karen were more than guides they were hosts, and gracious at that. Alex's knowledge about the area was incredible. As Northerners we gained a new perspective on Charleston and the lowcountry history. Be prepared to eat and eat well. Picnic lunch had great local treats and found us asking for recipes. Saturday dinner at Circa 1886 was a very polished finale to a great trip.

Our group ranged in capabilities and age, so Charleston Bike Tours developed a beautiful route and special customized day to meet everyone's needs and skills. The young folks were able to go faster and farther while us oldies chugged along. Charleston BIke Tours also arranged for two fascinating tours of a tea plantation and fish hatchery that was of interest to all. Plus a delicious lunch prepared by Alex and eaten under the gazebo. Altogether a delightful journey. Charleston BIke Tours planned ahead and anticipated all of our needs.
