While visiting in Charleston, my friend and I dropped into this restaurant for just a snack and a drink. We ordered an appetizer (steak bites) and it was absolutely delicious. We dedided to try a dessert because our appetizer had been so good. We had bread pudding that was absolutely out of this world. Needless to say, we were expecting "just food". Chucktown Tavern obviously takes its menu seriously as is indicated by the quality of the food that is served. The service is also exceptional. Delicious food, reasonable prices, and great service---everything one is looking for in a restaurant--Chucktown Tavern has it all.

We were delighted to find Chucktown! The value was amazing and the food was well prepared. I was especially impressed with the vegetables that accompanied my steak. They were tender and not overcooked. We will come again!

You are a lucky diner if you are in Charleston and stumble on this " little out of way Gem" including the food, service and the warm welcome by our server and bartender, Steve and Hope the co- owner/chef. Everything there, were possible, is made from scratch from the soup of the day to the Blue Plate Specials. There choices on the menu to satisfy everyone's taste including, made to order, Bloody Marys which Steve glacially and professionally mixed. We actually found the Chucktown Tavern by taking advantage of a certificate we saw on Restaurant.Com, , but even without, the reasonable prices still make it is a great value. One additional comment is the Owners and Staff are great supporters of our troops, present and past, and fly the POW along with American Flag proudly in their courtyard. Give it a try, you will be ":Happy Campers"!!

We had a Cancer Society coupon and opted to try Chucktown after reading the positive reviews. It's a very small, neighborhood tavern, not much ambiance, but the food was delicious. We had read that the burgers were to die for, so we opted for hamburger steak--first time in years for either of us. Loaded with sauted onions, peppers and mushrooms, the steak was easily half a pound. Juicy and full of flavor and the mixed vegetables were perfect. No frozen stuff, but fresh and not overcooked.

The waiter was the bartender and very friendly and welcoming. We were really glad we made this choice.

We stumbled upon this place during a three-day trip to Charleston at Christmastime. We sat at the bar and were immediately greeted by the very friendly server/bartender. She asked if we would like to try her "just invented" coffee martini. We were game, so we ordered them. Well, that was just the start of a delicious meal. My turkey wrap was filled with fresh, flavorful ingredients, and my husband absolutely loved the chili he ordered. The owner came out from the kitchen and chatted with us for a while, even giving us some samples of what she was preparing. Based on the server's strong recommendation, we returned the following morning for breakfast. It was one of the best breakfasts I have ever had. The eggs were done perfectly, and the grits were right up there with the best ever. The owner's husband greeted us on his way out the door, and told us his wife had told him about our visit the day before. After we ate, the owner came out and gave us a hug and wished us a good trip home. We both felt like we were leaving friends who just cooked us a delicious breakfast. We will, without a doubt, return during our next trip to Charleston.
