Rainbow row is really easy to combine with a trip to the market. We actually parked at the far end, walked the row down to the market and restaurants and came back. Of course, watch the parking rules!

it makes up part of Charlestons's architectural and historical culture which is a big part its character and charm. Worth listening about it, especially in a horse-drawn carriage.

The row of homes painted in different pastels on East Bay Street. They are now all private residences. I grew up vacationing in the Charleston and have seen many paintings and sketches go Rainbow Row so when I saw the homes for the first time, I fell in love. I think is worth the time if you're in the area.

An absolute treat it was to see this place! It was quite, and gorgeous, and only a little hotter than I would have preferred. Bring a camera, water, and someone to share the view and you'll be in for a treat.

If you travel along East Bay Street (south of the Exchange Building on Broad St) you will see the famous & beautiful pastel houses named Rainbow Row. Originally these buildings had retail space on the first floor & living spaces above (now private residences). Also, this area has not always been an area you would want to visit. After the Civil War, this area was know as the slums. Thank goodness for preservation & restoration! If you're in Charleston you should not miss these historic & famous row houses.
