“Comfy room, great location, friendly hotel”

We stayed for a couple of nights in November with two children aged 9 and 12. We booked family room which was on the coner of the hotel and had a separate sitting room/kitchenette and bedroom. the room was spotless and comfortable, as was the bed - I slept like a log. We used the free shuttle bus in the evenings to get into and out of Charleston which was great and meant we could enjoy cocktails and drinks without worrying about driving. In the day we parked downtown which was about a 10 minute drive if that, and was fine. As we are used to UK prices for parking we didn't feel it was too onerous for the day - $12 I believe.
The staff were super friendly and helpful and the breakfast was good too plenty of choice and fresh food which doesn't always happen.
The weather was warm enough to enjoy a dip in the pool which after a day sightseeing was a nice way to relax. the pool area was clean and pleasant with lounge chairs and groups of tables and chairs too.
Although the hotel is not in the historic district it is very close, with a drop in price to match which means you have more money to spend going out, and the free shuttle is a real bonus in the evenings. I would whole heartedly recommend this hotel.

We had a 1 BR Suite that was in dire need of a refurbishment. The mattress was so soft my back hurt for 3 days after our stay. The carpet was bare in places and the bottom molding had gouge marks in the wood. If it wasn't for the attentive staff and the courtesy van to historic downtown Charleston, this rating would be even lower.

Clean room --had a 2 BR Suite w/2 bathrooms -perfect amount of room for 2 couples /kitchen area had all we needed to cook a quick dinner. Great location to stay for the Cooper River Bridge Run... only about 5 min from downtown to park one car then drive over the bridge to Mount Pleasant for the Start Line.... will return next year!

Recent stay was all that was promised and much more. Needed handicap access shower. Large room at no extra charge..2 bedrooms. Clean, great location but best of all ...the great front desk staff...Devon. Thoughtful, helpful, pleasant. Breakfast busy and somewhat hectic but well stocked and constantly attended.

I stayed here recently for buisness. It is a really nice place and very clean. The staff was amazingly courteous. My favorite thing about it is the free shuttle service into downtown. Anyone who knows Charleston knows that finding parking downtown can be really difficult so having this service is a huge plus! The negatives are breakfast is really crowded, but that could just be time of year and if crowds don't bother you than this won't be an issue. I also did not know the hotel is pet friendly. Not being a dog owner, I was not ecstatic about being woken up every morning because of a barking dog on the floor below me. If you don't mind dogs or their barking then this shouldn't be an issue. This is the only reason I may not stay here again, not a dog fan. However, that aside the place is great!

Just to update you-- On busier days, we have opened our meeting space to add extra seating for our guests. With outside seating, the breakfast area seating, and this additional option in the meeting room, we have found that our guests have plenty of room... even at full occupancy.

On another note, we regret to hear that you were awakened by a barking dog. Should we have been notified, we would have been happy to have moved your room or corrected the issue directly with the guest of the barking dog immediately. Guest satisfaction and service excellence is our number one priority and we do what we can to make our guests feel as if they are at their home away from home.

This is a great Marriott. We often stay here when our son has to go to MUSC Children's Hospital. The front desk staff is EXCELLENT! The hotel is well maintained and clean. Ask for a balcony suite. We requested a quiet balcony room, and got just what we wanted. You can't go wrong staying here.

A short 10 minute drive to Historic Charleston. Free shuttle service helps you avoid parking hassles and fees in the downtown area. Finding a parking space here late at night can be a challenge. Super clean, large, modern and comfortable rooms with an accommodating front desk and staff that shows you what southern hospitality is all about. Typical Marriott breakfast items served in a very relaxing dining room. Excellent choice for families with kids and/or dogs.
