“Beautiful hotel, Great location”

This hotel is perfectly located just off Charleston's famed shopping strip - King St. We stayed 2 nights here right after staying 2 nights at the Charleston Place hotel. My wife and I both preferred the Renaissance. Well worth the money. Rooms were clean, spacious and modern. Bed was extremely comfortable!!!!

I read some mixed reviews about this hotel, and I would have to disagree--my husband and I had a wonderful experience here. We stayed here just for one night to see Charleston while visiting family in a neighboring area. We chose this hotel mainly because we could use points. It was 60,000 points which I thought was a lot, but they really took care of us. We were upgraded to a King someone suite which was two very large rooms and a luxurious bathroom. Aside from the room, the lobby and other common areas were elegant. Staff was also nice. We had dinner at High Cotton in the French Quarter area, which is walking distance, but an uncomfortable walk in heels, so we took a bicycle cart. That would be my only complaint about the hotel...wish it was a tad closer to the area with the restaurants. If it had Vendue Inn's location it would be perfect. Also note that is you're looking for a B&B type place, this is not it-- but it is sparkling clean and private with all the amenities you need.

Room Tip: The suites are pretty sweet if you can get upgraded.

This was everything you'd expect of an upscale hotel. The room was immaculate and quite comfortable. We were on the sixth floor with a nice view of the cooper river bridge and a good glimpse of the river. The location is excellent... everything is a stroll away. Everyone was friendly(it is Charleston!) and efficient.

Room Tip: try to get a higher floor room with a river/bridge view

I used points for our stay (I am currently Platinum Elite status). The room was very small (clean) and on the 4th floor of a 6 floor hotel. I asked for a change and was denied, but the did give us free parking. I asked for a late checkout and this was denied as well (I have never been refused a late checkout before as a Platinum member, or even Gold). The female employees at the desk are not the friendliest I have ever encountered, either.

Room Tip: Ask for high floor and large room, or at leas average size.

Stayed one night at this property to celebrate my husband's birthday. We were lucky enough to get one of the third floor balcony rooms, which featured french doors and a view of King Street. The room we were in ended up being a handicapped accessible room which was actually wonderful because it it was SO roomy.
The room had a mini fridge (wasn't stocked but still convenient). The outdoor rooftop pool and fitness room were also located on the third floor.
Room service was great and prompt (we ordered late night dessert and breakfast in the morning) and the food was pretty decent.
The lobby is huge and beautiful, with multiple seating areas to include several fireplaces. The property also features a concierge desk.
Parking is either self park or valet. We opted for the valet for convenience, which is currently $16 a day.
Overall, this property lived up to my expectations of a high-end Marriott property. It was lovely.

Room Tip: The third floor has some balcony rooms. Get one if you can!

We were on our way home from vacationing w/family in Florida and decided to stay in Charleston for one night - what a wonderful surprise awaited us at this Renaissance hotel. Location was terrific, bell staff were excellent, the front desk clerk was extremely knowledgeable and was able to help us with an issue that was encountered, our room was absolutely huge and we had two windows that looked out (in the distance) to the water. Our package came with breakfast that was also delicious and, all in all, we had absolutely no complaints about this 'refuge' for one night! We will definitely return and stay a bit longer to explore the town to the fullest.

On a recent trip to Charleston, SC we stayed here. I stayed here with my 2 teenage sons and they were impressed - my youngest son age 16, said he didn't expect the hotel to be so nice, because the outside was misleading. If you've never been to Charleston I guess the actually location could be misleading. The entrance is tucked away in what looks like a small alley, right next door to a Baptist Church. And i must confess based on some of the reviews I read while planning I was tempted to stay somewhere else - that was higher rated and more costly - but I'm glad I made the decision to stay at the Renaissance. The staff was very nice and accomodating, the hotel was small-ish, but clean and well decorated. The location was the best. I rented a car but didn't have to use it very often, 'cuz everything was really within walking distance. Lots of shopping, high end like Louis Vouiton, Juicy Couture as well as the standards like Victoria Secret and Williams Sonoma and still other small individual boutiques.

Room Tip: ask for high floor with a view
