We stayed on the club floor on 27th and 28th of November,2013.The club is a great attraction for relaxing, but the rooms are not a place for sleeping. The heating and air conditioning system is antiquated. The first night the system cycled on and off, going on and off with a loud BANG(waking us up each time). The heat did not work,it was cold in the room in the morning.Three maintenance men did get the heat worrking the next day,but the cycling WITH A LOUD BANG is a built in problem with this old system.I am surprised that Orient Express has this hotel in their portfolio. This not superior service, not even acceptable.I Sent a note to management, but they have not the the courtesy to reply. Not a good management pratice.

Room Tip: We checked other rooms, all had the sama HVAC noise problem.

Dear safari41073,

While we are glad to hear you enjoyed the Club Level, we are sorry that the rest of your stay did not meet your expectations. We often repair and replace our heating and air conditioning units. While it sounds like we were able to repair the issue while you were on site, we are sorry if the system seemed too loud. As for your note, we have backtracked through your stay and have been unable to find a note that was sent to management, otherwise we would have kindly responded as we respond to every note that comes through to management. Thank you for your feedback.

Sincerely,
Paul Stracey

From the minute we drove up to the minute we left, the service was top notch. Beautiful property in the heart of Charleston. Would stay here again in a heartbeat. A little pricey, but you get what you pay for. The lobby was wonderfully decorated for Christmas!

On our East-Coast-Tour in July, we had the pleasure to stay 4 days in this amazing Hotel, which is located in the heart of downtown Charleston - perfect for exploring the town with all the attractions. The property is quite luxurious with a very stylish lobby and several really good shops and restaurants on the ground floor. But the highlight was the award winning 'Charleston-Grill' with delicious dinner, outstanding wines and a marvelous service.

Our room was very nice to feel comfortable and the bathroom was quite spacious. There was actually a very rare removable shower, like we know it from Europe. Great! Only the WiFi did'nt really work.

We had a very pleasant stay in a luxurious Hotel with wonderful people with their southern hospitality. We can highly recommend it!

Perfectly located to explore and experience the charm of Charleston. Beautifully appointed with luxurious amenities available at a price. Very disappointed that the jacuzzi was broken and so unavailable for our entire 4 nite stay. Walls a little thin so we could easily hear our neighbors and wifi service not the best. No in-room microwave or coffee maker although we were able to get a roll in refrigerator to store medication. Valet parking was pricey but less expensive parking garage was steps away. Free to handicapped parking sticker holders. Overall, worth it for the location and graciousness.

Elegant facade and very personable staff. Unless you are lucky enough to get a King size bed, you are going to be very uncomfortable in the DOUBLE beds. The food is great. Keep your reservation for the Spa in hand as they lost ours and my wife was snubbed.

Dear John,

It sounds like you enjoyed your stay for the most part. We are unhappy to hear that there were aspects of your visit you were not satisfied with. I am sorry if we were not clear on our bedding arrangements during booking; we try our best to accommodate guests’ request, but are subject to availability. As for your spa reservation, there was a miscommunication within booking and we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Despite these issues, we are glad that we were able to speak with you directly about your situation and we hope to welcome you back again soon.

Sincerely,
