My husband and I tried to have lunch there, it was after 2 pm. We were told the buffet was closing, that we shouldn't have to pay $25 for it. In other words, he didn't think we could pay for it. Then we were told we couldn't sit in the dining room because they stopped serving at 2:30 pm. This was at 2 pm. I would never stay there. I don't recommend this hotel for anyone. Yes, we had plenty of money!!!!

Great hotel!!! It was clean, beautiful, and historic. Great location. We walked to all of the sites.
We enjoyed lunch and dinner at "Poogan's Poorch" located across the street. My 11 year old daughter had heard the story about Poogan the dog and was excited to eat there. Would definitely stay there again and would recommend it to friends.

This hotel is absolutely beautiful, and combines many historic qualities which make the city of Charleston charming. That being said, I have never encountered worse service at what is supposed to be an upscale hotel.

When using the valet service, you are told to call 20 minutes before you need your car and they will have it waiting. My boyfriend waited over an hour for our car on more than one occasion, including when he was scheduled to get the bride to the church for the wedding we were attending. And yes, the bride's reception was being held at the Mills House. On another occasion, the valet actually hung up on us when we were calling down to get the car.

The front desk was of little use as well. We called and asked if they could bring us toothpaste, and they told us to come down and get it. My parents asked for room service after a long day of traveling, and they told them they had to come downstairs and get it. Please keep in mind that we were staying on the executive level of the hotel, where the rooms are well over $300 a night.

The final straw came when we were checking out, and noticed a bunch of miscellaneous charges on our rooms, totaling close to $200, that we had not made. The front desk could not locate the receipts for one of the charges, and upon locating another, told us that someone had mistakenly written the wrong room number and our room had been charged accidently. No problem, they said they would remove the charges. Well three weeks later, with multiple phone calls made the hotel, the charges have still not be removed.

Needless to say, I will never stay at this hotel again. When you are paying for service, you sure as hell better be getting it. Your money would be better spent elsewhere.

Very convenient location on Meeting Street, convenient to the Market, King Street and all attractions in the historic district.
Executive floor came with a daily newspaper, a more than sufficient free continental breakfast which was timely delivered each day.
The room was replenished each day with a complimentary bottle of spring water.
The staff was very friendly and accomodating.
Only gripe was the $22.00 a day for valet in and out parking for the car but considering the location and scarcity of parking, letting the hotel handle the parking was beneficial as one does not need a car in the historic district.
Would gladly stay again.

My stay at the Mills House was great, the room was nice, the location was perfect, the lobby/bar/employees were wonderful, nice and helpful. This was my boyfriends first time to Charleston and you had a great time and wants to go back. I have referred the Mills House to my family and friends. The location of the hotel was in the historic part of the city so the view out our window was beauitful. I recommend everyone to stay here.

This hotel is well placed for the historic district of Charleston and has parking (22$ a day). Large busy place with very friendly and attentive staff, unusual for such a busy hotel. Bar very pleasant and good breakfast available.

We had a petite suite - and am glad because I think the regular rooms are rather small. Our room was large, with a huge TV and spacious seating area. The bathroom was small even by UK standards.

The Hotel is within convenient walking distance to downtown Charleston. It is elegant, but the rooms are small. The bathroom is very small. We stayed on the executive floor & found it to be quiet. The service is hit & miss. We had to call for clean towels, and sometimes they would do the bed turndown, and sometimes not. You might get breakfast delivered when you ordered it, or you might not. Inconsistent. They offer a breakfast buffet, and some days it might be open the hours they say, or as in our case, they shut it down 45 minutes early, & we only had 10 minutes to eat. Overall, we found their service to not be at the level that their pricing might suggest. They want to charge a lot of money, but you don't always get a lot of service. We wouldn't stay there again, as there are a lot of other nice hotels in very close proximity.
