The Mills House was built a zillion years ago! Well, google it and see for yourself. We made our first visit there 36+ years ago!!! Not sure if you can google that or not! For New Year's celebrations we returned AGAIN to the Mills House as the folks were trying to complete their million dollar upgrade! Fine. The working noises and inconveniences did NOT dampen our enthusiasm nor the charm and grace of The Mills House. We are concerned that some fancy, new fangled, modern hotel group might think it can make more of the Mills House than the Mills House offers in itself but these days a lot of forgiveness is required for modernity! We did not go to the Mills House in 1978 looking for modernity. We spent the first night of our honeymoon there 36 years ago. So we return and we return and will return again to this sacred shrine. And I suppose we will adopt the attitude that the Mills House adopts towards modernity....we will tolerate that you don't get it!!! You can care for the Mills House but you sure as hell do not need to think you need to add to her grace and charm and history!!! PLEASE!!!!! I promise you will we will return. And we'll pay the ever increasing fare that modernity tries to suck out of the life of this lovely hotel and we'll hug the amazing staff and generously tip the staff from the door to the Barbadoe's Room to the valet parking but we will NOT need modernity to make us feel more royal or more romantic or more in love with the amazing Mills House. I think you will feel the same unless you have no story and need some designer or some agent to give you a life. Thank you amazing Mills House people for the 3 nights. Good luck Wyndham Grand Hoteliers with your modern high hopes.....I fear you will only dress our grand lady in the shallow attire of now. We will be back as we know regardless of the upgrades the heart and the spirit of this dear hotel cannot be broken. Mills House....we love you no matter what they do to you.
See you when we can.

Room Tip: Call and ask for Latoya!!! She is a part of the part of The Mills House that you cannot put your...

I recently stayed here on may way home to Orlando from Myrtle Beach. Even though the hotel is undergoing a major renovation my stay was very enjoyable. The staff are so sweet. The young lady checking me in recommended her favorite room for us. It was a corner room with great views of the water, even in bed. The room had it's own little private entrance (two locked doors to go through to enter the room). The room was a little small but what it lacked in space it made up for with views. We were up on the 7th floor and construction was on the 2nd. We never heard any noise from guest or construction. Bed was very comfortable. We ate in the restaurant and food was delicious. Also ordered room service and that food was delicious. I would definitely stay here again. We really enjoyed our short time here. This hotel is very centrally located so you can walk every where.

Room Tip: Ask for a corner room up high. It's a little smaller but great views. Also it's far away f...

I was in Charleston with a group of girlfriends. We chose this hotel because it was downtown and had a pool. The rooms are clean and comfortable and we had 2 connecting rooms. The staff is friendly and laid back. Depending on who you spoke to you would receive a more complete answer, but everyone was nice. This hotel was convenient to walk to the market and many restaurants. The front desk was great about calling a cab when we needed one. The lobby bar was not as busy as I would have expected, but we made our own fun. The pool is great and we used it every afternoon after shopping.
