6 of us attended the tour with Jack and it was informative. At times he was difficult to hear, so a portable microphone would have made a considerable difference. The tour moves along at a nice pace and really provides ample opportunity for some wonderful photographs.
Jack takes a "you are there approach" to the tour, which can sometimes be confusing. My imagination can't multitask, so while he's trying to take us back 100 + years, I'm still focused on what the modern day incarnation is. It would be helpful if he discussed the history in more modern terms and then gave a brief overview of how the building or area evolved to the way it is today. I will give Jack kudos for carrying around a binder that has some wonderful historical photos that he presents on the tour so you can see the before and after of a building or neighborhood. Amazing to see how the area has changed and still retained so much of its' essence.
All in all, it's a good tour that covers a great deal of historical Charleston. We enjoyed it and picked up a copy of his book.
