My husband and I arrived in Charleston in time to walk around the evening before our tour with Anne. You can walk around the city by yourself and see a lot, but nothing compares to having a knowledgable native guide to help you understand what you are seeing...and explore some of those "hidden gems." Anne wove together stories about Charleston from the founding of the walled city through wars, natural disasters, and everday life to the present time. I highly recommend taking this tour.

We had a great experience on this tour. Anne's love of this city comes out in every nook and cranny she took us to.
Her knowledge of the Civil War and the history of Charleston was tremendous.
Her tour reads like a great story of her beloved Charleston.
Thank-you, Anne..

Anne's walking tour has to be one of the best tours for seeing Charleston up close. As a 13th generation Charlestonian she not only gives you the history of the city and buildings but also adds personal stories from her childhood as well as her father's, mother's and grandparents! It makes for an extremely enjoyable tour. She walks you around the city walking through side streets that you would never find on your own. Anne also brought us into the theater giving us the history of that building on the interior as well as all the other outdoor areas. She was so enthusiastic that you couldn't help but become totally engaged. At the end of the tour she brings you back to her family's hidden garden for lemonade, cookies and has lots of pictures, books and maps of Charleston to peruse. A definite added bonus. I would say this tour is a must.

We had the pleasure of spending 2+ hours with Anne M Herron this week touring Charleston. It was a truly wonderful experience-perfect blend of history, art, and "down home" guide to a wonderful city. Flower laden hidden side streets along with a political, social and economic history of Charleston-felt like we were with a good friend. It appealed to people of all ages-lovers of tours and those who want to do it on their own were captivated. Ending in Anne's family hidden garden with lemonade and historical Charleston memorabilia was an added bonus. Comfy shoes, good camera and sense of wonder and humor a must! Will be back to stay at the Middleton B& B. Just marvelous!
