“They returned my diamond earrings!!”
Reviewed 19 November 2013

We have stayed at the Courtyard Marriott twice and have had a great experience both times. A few weeks ago after returning home, I realized that I left my diamond earrings on the counter in the bathroom of our hotel room. I called the service desk who transferred me to housekeeping. They ended up finding them AND they were shipped to my home a few days later. This re-affirmed my belief that this hotel is awesome!!

Great stay due to the concierge service from Andrea at the desk. She lined us up with Tommy Dew for a walking tour of historic Charleston that was a delight despite overcast skies. His charming and informative stories and southern history tales brought 1700-1800's Charleston alive. She also recommended some fine restaurants and kindly booked them for us. And, handed us direction cards for each suggestion, including a visit to the famous 1200 year old Angel Oak tree on James island. Prior to leaving she also provided self guided walking tour maps for Savannah and Beaufort which were helpful given we were headed to Hilton Head. Plus, she suggested a stop at Shelton cathedral ruins en route too.
The room we had was specious, clean, we'll appointed, and quiet. Only complaint was upon our arrival the checkin clerk was sick and coughing and not very pleasant. However, Andrea the conserve more than made up for that. One other aside is that it is unfortunate that this Courtyard Marriott doesn't offer a complimentary breakfast even for elite level club members.

Dear AdventurerJudy,

Thank you for being a Top Contributor on TripAdvisor and for staying with us on your recent trip from Chicago.

It is great to hear about the great service that Andrea offered you during your stay here with us. The fact that she was able to provide valuable information not only about Charleston, but also about other popular cities in South Carolina is incredible. I apologize about your experience at check-in and we will address this with our staff to ensure it does not happen again. Andrea's ability to turn the situation around is a testament to the service she and our hotel offers even after we may have a service issue.

We hope you enjoyed the rest of your trip throughout South Carolina. Come back and see us again soon!

We were here in October for a 3 day business meeting and our group usually stays at the nicer Mariott franchises but this one definetly is unique and a pleasant surprise. Extremely nice people who are are warm and inviting, willing to help out. Rooms are updated and clean, but bedding and pillows are not as comfy as we would like but can't knock it, it's expected of a Courtyard, that is why I gave 4 stars. Meeting rooms are convenient, breakfast at the meetings has to be the best I ever had, and we have these meeting 3 times a year at different holets. Omelette and pancake stations were excellent. Excellent waking distance to most Historic Charleston sites. We did not use Kevin's services, but others in our group did, we used a local freind to guide us in the city. The others that did use Kevin said he was right on. Parking is a bit tight, but it is on property and convenient. Great job to the employees and the management team for having a consistent customer service policy through out your orginization. When in Charleston again, we will return.

Dear Gumar2003,

Thank you for your feedback and for being a Senior Contributor on TripAdvisor.

I would completely agree that our hotel is a very unique venue for business meetings and I believe a lot of that comes from the creativity in our catering menus. You mentioned how great our omelet and pancake stations are in your review and there is a great story behind these action stations. When putting together our catering menus for 2013, our Executive Chef Justin Morris, looked to a experience he had as a marine in Iraq. He recalled that when they arrived at the base they had a create your own pancake station that just made everyone's day. The pancakes station offerered a choice of buttermilk, chocolate chip, strawberry, or blueberry pancakes with all the toppings you could ask for. It is great to hear that the experience Chef had in Iraq translated into a memorable experience for you here in Charleston.

We hope you will join us for your next meeting and thank you for your business!

We recently stayed at the Courtyard in the historic district. If you're looking for a clean, comfortable and convenient place to stay in Charleston....make your reservation here. The staff was so helpful and courteous. If you've read other reviews, Kevin's name is firmly planted in your mind. It's true, he's great. One day we forgot our map and called him while out walking to ask for directions. He guided us to our destination. When we return to Charleston....this is where we'll stay.

I have some reviews yet to be posted on places we visited but it's important for you to know that the local people we encountered were without question some of the warmest, friendliest and most helpful I've ever experienced. Thank you Charleston.

Dear gilmoreooa,

Thank you for being a contributor on TripAdvisor and for your kind words about our hotel.

I would agree that our hotel is clean, comfortable, and convenient for all of our guests. What really sets us apart is our service though and it appears you were able to experience that during your stay with us. Kevin and our entire staff take great pride in living up to the reviews and comments here on TripAdvisor and ensuring that we offer the level of service that our customers rave about on this site.

You are spot on in your view of the local people here in Charleston as well. You would be hard pressed to make a case for a city that could be said to be friendlier than Charleston, SC.

My husband and I recently vacationed for three days in Charleston. We selected the Courtyard based on two things, location and Kevin McQuade, the Concierge. The hotel is located in walking distance to all the downtown sites, food, and history. Kevin was the best concierge I have ever worked with on any vacation. Kevin was just as excited to tell us about Charleston a we were to be there. He was excellent in preparing an itinerary for our three day vacation. He listened to what we were interested in and suggested things to fill our days and nights. The hotel was clean and comfortable. The staff was helpful and delightful. I will stay there again on my next vacation to Charleston.

Dear jeany b,

Thank you for your feedback and staying with us on your vacation from Texas.

I couldn't agree more that Kevin Mcquade has an ear for what people are looking for and what they really want to do while in Charleson. Unlike many, Kevin listens to our guests before recommending restaurants, tours, and any other activity. This allows our guests a memorable experience tailored to their specific needs and desires.

Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience at our hotel and we hope to see you back in Charleston soon.

The staff is so extremely helpful and welcoming. They recommended several places and even called to make reservations for us. They go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. The location of the hotel is amazing. We parked our car on Friday evening and never got back in it until it was time to leave. We walked everywhere and loved it! We will be back for sure!

My friends and I came to Charleston for a too short visit and stayed here. The hotel is lovely and conveniently located. What truly made this a special trip was Kevin, the concierge. He referred us to superb restaurants, shopping areas, ,jazz clubs and activities based on our interests and tastes. But what made our trip so special was the personal evening tour he provided of historic homes in Charleston. Walking through silent cobblestoned alleyways, seeing beautiful gardens gently illuminated while listening to the splashing of fountains at 10 pm was magical. Best concierge I have ever consulted!!!
