Booked this place as a Marriott customer after reading the earlier reviews. Good location and accessible to uptown and downtown. Not a real user of the concierge services so brushed that idea off. SOOoo... Room very clean with fresh shower curtain and liner. Great housekeeping. Good refrigerator, and good air conditioning. We had no view, but it did not matter. That's because we did happen upon the infamous Kevin - and he kept us busy for our 7 days. Not a complaint about any recommendations, either for dinner, tours, attractions. We were the beneficiaries of the "Kevin tour" on our first night. A walking tour of the downtown historic area, when no one is out. He is a master. He knows his job, his customers, and his geography. He changed us from "tourist" to "traveler." I recommend you use his services. And his services will have some value to you. Let him know that.

We stayed here for 1 night while on our way to Savannah and Hilton Head. We had a day to explore Charleston and were not disappointed! The concierge was amazing! I wish I had gotten her name so I could tell everyone here, but she was great! We got upgraded to a suite which was very nice. Huge bathroom and sitting room area with a kitchenette. The lobby area is very nice too. When we got back from dinner, the lights were out in the lounge, but the bartender was still there. He said he was just closing up, but got drinks for us anyway. All of the staff that we dealt with were very nice. Lovely one night stay at this great hotel.

Stayed here for 3 nights. We had a family of 4 (teenagers too). Room was pretty good size and clean. Bathroom was in great shape and we had room to move around in. That is always a plus.
Hotel was very busy as there was a fashion show going on, College of Charleston had 3000 new students in town, and there was a big antiques show also going on. But the hotel was quiet. No issues at all.
Front desk was great. The young team they had there was friendly They knew where to eat, shop, and have fun.
The concierge was great. Knew all the great spots to visit, bike to, etc. He really knows his area. First class man
The only reason I cant give 5 stars was the price. Yes, the hotel is convenient and safe. You are steps to king street etc. In fact you are steps to everything in Charleston. But the price increased each night a hundred dollars. C'mon Courtyard, You are not the Ritz.

I would say the most important thing in Charleston is location, and this hotel meets the need. It is little further away form the super touristy areas, but provides a good base if you want to go some of the great bars and restaurants that are out side of the French Quarter. The common areas were nice and the staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms were fine, nothing remarkable, except ours had a slow drain.

We have stayed at Marriots before. In fact I am in there rewards program. The staff couldn't have been nicer. There is no real restaurant just a coffee shop type , similar to Starbucks. The room was pretty shoddy. The furniture was all chipped and looked overdue for replacement. We had a room with a balcony, however I wouldn't sit on any of the chairs as they looked like they would fall apart. The sheets could have been cleaner as there was lipstick on one of them. The shower curtain had black mold on it and should have been changed Location was fine but hotel needs to be spruced up

This was our first time staying here. The rooms were nice and the location is within a few blocks of the city market. We usually stay at the old citadel which is now The Embassy Suites, but they were booked for the night we wanted. So we tried the Marriott. I missed the character, history and frankly the free breakfast and nightly free wine provided by Embassy Suites. We will go back there. Marriott does have self parking available.
