This hotel is in a perfect location for Charleston's many attractions, with the added convenience of free trolleys right outside the door. The entire staff is the epitome of Southern hospitality - they could not be more friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable. And if all of that isn't enough, then the biggest asset of all is the hotel's Chief Concierge Kevin McQuade! All of the accolades he has received in previous reviews are absolutely accurate and well-deserved....there is NO ONE any better than Kevin. Do yourself a favor and contact him at least 2 weeks before your trip - he will have everything in place before you even set foot in the hotel!
We happened to call on his DAY OFF and were AMAZED that he got our message and called us back that evening at 8:30pm. He skillfully identified our tastes and priorities, listened to our preliminary itinerary, and explained alternatives that would give us more of an authentic experience rather than just the usual touristy activities. During the course of our hour-long conversation, he proposed a totally different itinerary designed to really highlight the best of his beloved city in a more personal way. But I took a leap of faith and trusted him to make all the arrangements and reservations for us - our trust was well-placed and he did not disappoint. To the contrary, we were blown away with his amazing dedication in making our first trip to Charleston a "dream vacation" and he emailed his progress and answered all of our questions before we even arrived. It was actually a relief to have him carry out all the details and it saved us a great deal of time. He even made a recommendation for a Walking Tour in Savannah and made reservations for that - he personally does all of the activities he recommends to ensure that he is selecting the best of the best! We couldn't wait to actually meet him when we checked in! Kevin is a master of organization and professionalism - every guest receives VIP treatment, the chairs at his desk are NEVER empty. The secret is out! His remarkable, tireless service and expertise is THE best perk of this hotel. We can't thank him enough for all that he did to make our Charleston experience unforgettable, including the private night walking tour he gave us of his favorite spots that was magical - WOW!!!!!!!!More
