The hotel was no great surprise, just average. It was reasonably clean with the usual breakfast fair. The only thing outstanding was the older gentleman who manned the breakfast area. He went out of his way to welcome and greet everyone, made sure their needs were met, including finding you a dining partner if you were single, offered any advice on localities, and sent you on your way with warm wishes. It is a good place to rest your head for a night.

The Daniel Island Hampton Inn is a nice, newer hotel located right off of I-526 near the Family Circle Tennis Complex . Hotel was clean and the staff very friendly. Breakfast was the typical cereal, assorted breads and fresh fruit with a rotating hot breakfast (breakfast pizza one morning and scrambled eggs/biscuits the next). Business travelers frequent this hotel. The breakfast area is a busy place and you might not find a table during peak breakfast hours, but it's not a problem to take it back to your room. We wound up with a double room. Our beds were full-size, not queen-size, as is typically the case. Be sure to ask when making reservations, if you require two queen size beds in your room. The only real drawback to the hotel is that it is out of the way from the major Charleston area attractions. If you plan on spending all of your time exploring the downtown Charleston area, then my recommendation is to go ahead and get a room downtown.

This is one of the best Hampton Inns we have ever stayed at. It was super clean, wonderful staff and convenient to everything in the Charleston area. It's not downtown but we loved the location and how nice Daniel Island is overall. Staff was helpful, we were there for a family wedding and they went out of their way to help all of the family and friends staying in the hotel. Maid service was exceptional and the breakfast was above the normal free breakfast.

The location of this hotel was great because we were visiting with friends who live on Shell Ring (Daniel Island area), but we did have a concern with the amount of bugs in the room. We found small bugs and a very large Palmetto Bug (size of an adults palm) in our room. My husband killed the bug with his shoe and it was under the desk. We immediately notified the front desk and they said they would spray the room. We pulled all of our belongings that were on the floor up higher. We left for the day and returned to find the palmetto still under the desk and questioned if they sprayed the room or not. They apologized for the bug still there and said we can check out the next room if we wanted to sleep somewhere else. The front desk told us the room we were currently was sprayed during the day. When we moved over to the other room, we again found the same small bugs that we found in the other room. Since it was our final night at the hotel we decided that the "sprayed" room.

The front desk sent a guy up and he pick up the dead plametto bug with a tissue. These rooms were on the fourth floor of the hotel. I hear that there will be another hotel coming to the area...maybe we can try that one out next time. I do realize the area is humid and buggy but they should make a better effort to keep up with exterminating and housekeeping.

This hotel was excellent with some of the nicest staff we've had in a long time. The groundskeepers, breakfast maid, and front desk people were lovely. The room was clean, the A/C worked. Overall, very good stay. We found it quite easy to get to downtown from the location.

The restaurant next door (Queen Anne's Revenge) was excellent. The food was terrific and there were lots of pirate museum items for the kids to look at.

We've stayed a number of times at the Hampton Inn on Daniel Island. While the rooms are typical for a hotel of this class, we've stayed there because it is convenient. We arrived at 11:30 AM on Saturday and were told that no rooms were available and check-in time was 3:00 PM. We expressed our desire to check in early and said that we would return after lunch. When we returned at 2:25 PM, again the service manager said that check-in time was 3:00 PM and there was nothing she could do about it. We told her that other hotels had allowed us to check in early and wondered why she couldn't have our room cleaned first, knowing we were there and ready to check in. She got very huffy and said "Well maybe you should stay at another hotel." This upset us as we are not used to this kind of treatment. We told her that this did not sound like good customer service attitude. She then proceeded to insult us and tell us that we were being "rude". The conversation escalated from that point with her even telling us that there was no way she would ever lose her job. My wife and I had never been treated in such a manner. We tried calling Hampton/Hilton customer service to make a complaint and got put on permanent hold. One would think that in these economic times, hotels would make an extra effort to make their guests happy. We left feeling that we would never stay at this hotel again.

My friend and I stayed here over the long weekend, and it suited our needs perfectly. We wanted to save some money so we chose this hotel. It took about 20 minutes to get into Charleston, but it was very easy to do so. The people at the front desk were wonderful and very helpful. The hotel was quiet and right next to a restaurant, which was also pretty good, and in a safe area.
