Our group of four chose this hotel because of the location. We required two rooms, a guest in one room uses a walker, I use a wheelchair. Unfortunately the rooms were very small and we had to move furniture in both rooms just to reach the bed. On the upside the rooms were clean and very comfortable, the staff was courteous and helpful and breakfast was good. I would return to this hotel when I am out of the wheelchair. Great place.

First off, the staff was very courteous and you cannot beat the location of this hotel for visiting downtown historic Charleston! That said, our room had this awful smell to it, like perfume/mold/mildew?? My husband started sneezing right away and continued to have problems throughout the night. The floor and carpeting was dirty and you could feel that on your feet, yuck! We had planned to stay two nights but cut it short due to the horrible smell in our room and the way it affected us. Sorry, I cannot recommend this hotel under these circumstances....look elsewhere even if you have to pay more.

Room Tip: Read my review above and if you still decide to stay here, inspect the room before accepting it!

I am so very sorry to see your stay with us was not a great one. We strive to provide the best possible service and accomodations in the area and simply feel awful when we don't hit our mark. It is my sincerest hope that you will call me so we can right this wrong. We truly value your business and want to be your hotel of choice when you visit our beautiful city.

Please call me.

This is a great location within walking distance of most or all of the downtown Charleston stops. The staff was very friendly and accomodating. The room was on the small side, but comfortable. The room on the 3rd floor was quiet. Complimentary breakfast was good and well stocked. Onsite parking garage around $15/day. You can walk to the historic district, the market and the Fort Sumter boat if that is what you like! Plenty of restaurants in the area and shopping of all kinds.

The location and price makes this a very good bet for where to stay in Charleston. You can easily walk to the all the good restaurants and shopping. Our room was small, clean and we had a restful night sleep. Nothing to brag about, but for the money and location it is hard to beat. Doorman was very helpful and the breakfast offers the usual HI spread. We chose instead to visit Kudu Coffee House just one block over.

Room Tip: Parking is expensive and not included in room rate. You park in private lot next door. AC units ar...

At the corner of John & Meeting, across from the Visitor's Center and free trolley stop, HI is well-located for a visit to C'ton. This is the 2nd time I've stayed here. Rooms and breakfast are nice and typical of HI's everywhere. Everything is walkable from this location, especially with the free King/Meeting trolley stop across the street and another nearby a block away. Parking is about $15/day with free in-and-out. About a 20 min walk to the Battery, two blocks to King street section with all the shopping, many good restaurants are within a few blocks so a car is not necessary.

A group of 4 went to stay for my birthday. The staff was very nice, professional and very attentive. The room was spotless, very clean and the complimentary breakfast was amazing. The free trolley that you catch in front of the hotel was very convenient. I would definitely stay in this hotel again!

At first blush it doesn't look like a Hampton Inn because of the awnings, doorman and the cute circular driveway in front of the hotel. The lobby and dining area are nicely decorated, the hallways are fresh and bright and the rooms are clean and spacious. Our room had a really large bathroom , a king bed, a minifridge, microwave , desk, chair and sofa. The staff were very helpful and friendly. This Hampton is located just a few blocks from several great restaurants and across the street from the Visitor Center. The free trolly stops in front of the hotel and transports you to the Marketplace/ waterfront area. Actually, it's a nice walk to the waterfront and there is plenty of shopping along the way if you want a little exercise. This a great place to stay while in Charleston. We would definitely stay there again.
