Hampton Inns are our consistent favorite when we travel. The convenience of being right downtown was worth the bit higher cost. However parking is an extra expense. Take a quick tour of the downtown via one of the many tour companies just to get a feel of the area. The front desk was very helpful in this regard.

The only positive aspect to this hotel is the location. Room was filthy- stained carpet, furniture, sheets, & towels. Sheets appeared used (not by us) & hotel insisted they were fresh. Musty odor in room. No hot water for an entire day! Breakfast offerings pathetic & very depressing to eat on styrofoam dishes. Management very unresponsive, even after submitting our complaints in writing. Fortunately they were responsive when we invoked the 100% satisfaction guaranteed policy, & we didn't pay for our stay. We would have much preferred to have enjoyed our stay, as the purpose of our trip to Charleston was for a festive event. This experience put a damper on our weekend :-(

I was so very sorry to hear of the troubles you experienced while a guest of ours. We take this concerns to heart and will definitely follow up with the relavant teams to ensure that nothing like this happens again. We strive to provide the best accomodations in the area and feel awful when we miss that mark. I sincerely hope you will give us another opportunity in the future so we can show you how your stay should have gone.

Sincerely,

The Hampton Inn has a bit of history itself in Charleston as it was converted from an old building. Great home base for your adventures in Charleston. Easy to walk to the main shopping and tourist attractions Charleston has to offer. King St, Market St, , Meeting St and East Bay St, all easy to get to walking or taking a local shuttle from the visitor center located right next door. Breakfast was great each morning with plenty of options for everyone. The staff is very friendly and happy to help with what ever you need. Our room came with a microwave and refrigerator and two beds. There is a beautiful outdoor courtyard perfect for enjoying your breakfast outside or just to enjoy the scenery. Definitely recommend!

Room Tip: They have smoking rooms still so make sure to double check your reservation

The Hampton Inn Historic District was wonderful.
Very convenient to all of Charleston. From trolley access to walking the streets of Charleston. Only used our car once. The breakfast had tons of offerings to choose from. The staff at the front desk was awesome. We will definitely stay here again on another visit to Charleston. I highly recommend this hotel. You will be very pleased. Loved our 1st floor room off the courtyard.

Our experience with Hampton Inns have been positive in the past, but I am happy to report that this hotel was very impressive. The staff was very friendly & helpful, the room was immaculate (they put us in a room on the first floor with windows facing Meeting St, but there seems to be no traffic sounds in Charleston.. had it been in NYC, we would have had a problem) , the complimentary breakfast was pretty good (although my wife missed her croissants) , the facilities were also very clean & tasteful (it was a little too cool for the pool.. I would have liked to have taken a dip) . It's in a great location (right across from the visitor's center & all 3 trolley route stops). Highly recommended!

We were very, very pleased with the Hampton Inn, Charleston, Historic District! The room was extremely attractive, The beds were unbelievably comfortable....both firm and soft. Don't now how that happens, but it made me want to take that mattress home!

The front desk people were very helpful in helping us find the right place to park our car (parking is no easy in Charleston). and in suggesting a wonderful place to eat dinner which I will review separately!

Everyone was very helpful.... We had no problems at all! The bathroom was attractively arranged with shelves under the sink......

We enjoyed a performance by Jeanne Robertson, which was the reason for our trip and we were NOT disappointed. She's a very funny lady who has many stories that especially describe
life in the South! I laughed so hard. It made our long drove from Loganville, GA all worth while.
Even my husband laughed!

We walked to restaurants within two or four blocks for supper and

I was extremely pleased with this Hampton Inn experience. The entire staff was wonderful from the front desk to housekeeping (who were pleasant in the hallways). We were compted without asking over some an issue of hot water the first night (the cold and hot faucets were reversed on our sink). The breakfast was better than average, the food area was clean and attractive and the hostess was very nice. In addition to eating indoors, you have the option of sitting outside in their court yard with umbrella tables. The lobby was large with a big sitting area. As mentioned in another review, parking is next door and was $16 a day but for hotels in a downtown area, this is not unusual. There were restaurants within talking distance half a block over with lots of choices. The closest restaurant was literally just outside the entrance to the Hampton. Our room was a comfortable size and so was the bath. A little refrig would have been nice, but Hampton doesn't usually have them, I don't think. Only thing that didn't completely meet my expectation was that it was farther from the market and core of the Historic District than I had hoped. It was walkable, but still a little farther than I wanted. The trolleys do stop next to the hotel, and it's across from the visitors center as noted. (BTW, I noticed that the Holiday Inn is the farthest of the hotels from the market and still considered "historic district". It did not have any close restaurants or bars and was getting in to the marginal section of town for walking at night.) If we didn't travel with our dog so frequently, I would always stay at Hamptons and wish more locations would accept pets (although in the city this would not have worked anyway). Charlestown has so much to see and so many places to visit, a person could come back and back again and enjoy each visit, in my opinion. This seemed to be a good value for the price as well.

Room Tip: We declined the first room assigned to us because it was right next to a linen supply area and looke...
