“Never been pampered so much!”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

This was our first trip to Charleston, and reviews brought us to the French Quarter Inn. Every rave was true; the rooms were spacious (we got a suite with two queen beds, and a lovely private balcony), and they pampered us with fresh, healthy Continental breakfast, wine and cheese in the afternoons, and hot cookies, coffee, teas, and sherry in the evenings! When my son requested hot chocolate, they delivered it gratis to the room! They helped us with tickets to events, and arranged a tour of Middleton Place plantation. The location was close to the old market, and just blocks away from King Street, where all the shops congregate. But the best part was the staff, ever helpful, friendly, and approachable. Our family of three will definitely return!

Room Tip: Go for a room overlooking the market!

Green Features: Food was very healthy, with a variety of vegetarian choices, and great granola with fresh yogurt for a good breakfast! The trashcans in the rooms separated your trash from recycled materials for you.

Celebrating our birthdays in Charleston was made even more special by the French Quarter Inn staff. The concierge, Scott Martindale, arranged a package for us that included two "bucket list" adventures - a helicopter ride over the harbor and beach area (Ft. Sumter from the air!) and a 3 hour private sail on a 50 foot sailboat! Part of the package was also a private carriage ride and picnic on the day we left with yummy snacks from Caviar and Bananas, a local gourmet shop. The hotel is beautiful and offers more "included" amenities than expected - morning paper, bountiful continental breakfast that included meats, cheeses and quiches (and it can be brought to your room), coffee station on every floor, wine and cheese in the late afternoon, cookies and milk in the evening. We also received a lovely bottle of champagne on arrival. The location is perfect! Step out the door and you are at the City Market. Short walk to historical sites. Superb restaurant (Tristan) on site with many other good choices close by. It will be our "go to" hotel in Charleston because of the extra mile the staff went to make our birthdays so special.

Room Tip: There are rooms with balconies that overlook the City Market.

We have been to Charleston, SC multiple times; but this was our first time at the French Quarter Inn. The Inn itself is beautiful, very clean, and in a great central location in the heart of the city market. The service was great at this hotel, everyone was friendly and helpful, and the amenities were superb! Gourmet continental breakfast is served in the am, and snacks are available throughout the day and evening. The French Quarter Inn more than met our expectations, and we will definitely stay again the next time we are in Charleston.

Room Tip: We enjoyed a standard king bed room. There was a mini-fridge, a large bathroom with awesome shower...

Charleston was beautiful, but the hotel was just the icing on the cake. . We loved all the extras. The morning breakfast, the flavored waters, the wine and cheese in the evenings and the Christmas decorations were wonderful. The rooms were quiet and comfortable, and the fact that the hotel was small, made it even more charming. The hotel was in walking distance or biking distance from wonderful shopping and restaurants too.

I would have given this 5 stars, but the hotel staff gave us some wrong info for local events and the timing on the amenities was confusing and inconsistent. Would definitely return though.

My wife and I recently spent a night at the French Quarter Inn over the holidays. We have stayed there several times before. We travel quite a bit and have stayed in many wonderful hotels here in the U.S. and abroad. This is our favorite. It is not inexpensive but worth every penny unlike some upscale hotels. From the valet to registration desk, housekeeping, turn down service, and room service, the staff couldn't be better. Included is a "happy hour" with complimentary food and wine. Coffee, tea, are always available along with lemonade, and egg nog during the holiday season. The complimentary in room breakfast is excellent and cookies and milk at night is a nice touch. We asked for more candy from the turn down service ladies and they were glad to help. Everything they do is top notch. They couldn't be friendlier or more helpful.

Room Tip: second and third floor suites with fireplaces are beautiful and our suite had a huge patio.

The best of the best. Staff members are attentive, friendly and extremely professional. No other hotel can compete with the charm, class and excellent service provided by French Quarter Inn. Our reservations were perfect and arranged by Marvin with his patience and professionalism, and Emily was the epitome of a warm greeting with her inviting smile, attention to detail and class. The perfect amenities throughout the day, warm ambience and extremely clean and quiet rooms make this hotel a top notch destination.
