“AWESOME”

My husband and I stayed at the Market Pavilion for 5 nights on the weekend before Memorial Day in a Terrace Suite on the Concierge floor. The room and terrace were beautiful and both quite large. We enjoyed the Concierge floor service although the male concierge was a bit overbearing and a bit creepy. The spread they put out was very good. The maid service was terrific. We did not order room service but ate at both the Pavilion Bar and 225 and both were excellent. It was a 12 hour drive from New Jersey so it was a great reprieve to find so many sights and restaurants w/i walking distance of the hotel. Also, we really looked forward to coming back to the hotel after a few hours of sightseeing to relax, it was that much of a luxurious atmosphere. I believe the hotel deserves 5 stars as the service, amenities, room quality were certainly on par, if not above, any Ritz or other 5 star hotel I have stayed in.

I usually use trip advisor when planning a journey and have almost always had a great result. My wife and I getaway by ourselves two or three times a year and have been to Aruba (Hyatt), Hawaii, San Francisco, Chicago (Swissotel), Asheville (Black Walnut Inn), and sailed numerous cruises. We love good accomdations and wonderful dining.

My wife and I stayed in room 227 of this excellent hotel for three nights. Driving home we could not think of one thing we would have changed. OK one, the complimentary toiletries were too scented.
We arrived and were greeted by Havin and Michael; smiling and eager to efficiently expedite our check in. The valet parking option was well worth the $20.00/day. Check in was easily accomplished at the front desk by C. J. Our room was perfect and spacious. As you enter there is hardwood and to the left the full bath done in white marble tile. The bedroom had newer beige carpet with at least 14 foot ceilings and a large double sided armoire. The armoire worked well because my wife and I each had our own sides. When opening the respective door a light automatically lit and the inside of each door had a full sized mirror. The second floor front rooms (225, 226, 227, 228) have a small balcony with french doors. It was wonderful to open these doors and hear the city noises or stand on the balcony and people watch in the early evening. In the morning the drapes allowed at most no light to pass so sleeping in was not a problem. Every morning the complimentary coffee and danish were satisfying but their 7 am arrival would be better at 6 or 6:30 am

The Market Place is a little different for a hotel because of the public areas. Anyone can use the elevators to access the rooftop bar and pool area; but guests, via their room key, only have access to the hotel's guest rooms. This feature added exclusivity to our accommodations.

The pool was tremendous! The wait staff excellent; helpful, cheerful, and appropriately attentive. The bartenders, Junior (a rare native Charlestonian) and Sean, made you feel at home remembering our names the entire stay, made great libations (try the Bloody Mary), and were a great source of local knowledge. The pool itself was refreshing and the terrycloth covered chaises very comfortable. My wife took a late afternoon nap each day. Also the pool was never crowded since its use is limited to hotel guests.

For us a true measure a good hotel is how difficult it is to leave; we truly regretted leaving The Market Pavillion Hotel but cannot wait to return.

The Market Pavilion is a small but upscale Ritz-Carlton like hotel on the corner of Market and Bay St. If you arrive in the evening and are unfamiliar with the hotel, it's difficult to tell if you're pulling up in front of a restaurant or a hotel as there is a lot of activity outside. The reason for all the activity is non-hotel guests are waiting to be allowed to go up to the rooftop terrace and bar. Once you walk into the hotel, you're in the middle of a bustly restaurant and some of the rooftop bar guests making their way to the elevators. It's not a pleasant experience, but the hotel staff made check-in easy and a bellman parked our car and took our luggage upstairs (if you arrive at a busy hour using a bellman is a must). We stayed on the concierge floor and it was a serene and peaceful as the lobby was confusing and hectic. The breakfast, afternoon tea and evening wine are superbly presented and always wonderful. The rooms are luxurious and offer all the amenities anyone short of a Saudi Prince would expect. The rooftop bar has fantastic views of the city and harbor but since our group was over 30 (way over 30) , it was too crowded to enjoy. My chief disappointment in the hotel was the concierge who was very pleasant, but woefully uninformed. It was raining so he suggested that one of the plantations on Sunday morning that would be open and the best place to visit....but as we found out once we got there, it didn't open for another 2.5 hours. That mistake caused us to waste half of a day. He also didn't really know the best restaurants in the city and we had good meals at his recommend spots but not great ones. In addition, he gave our credit card number to a tour company without asking our permission. If the concierge service was polished up, the entrance less confusing and the rooftop bar more of a place for hotel guests rather than local college students, it would be a fantastic hotel. In spite of the problems, I'd recommend staying at the Market Pavilion. Don't miss going to Fleet Landing Restaurant, just one block away from the hotel and on the harbor for a fun seafood/pasta/salad/burger lunch in a funky open air restaurant.

Had a great stay. Make sure to go to the Roof top. Ask for Ashley or Heather. Great service, a lot of laughs.

My husband and I were recently in Charleston, SC and stayed at the Market Pavilion Hotel and absolutely loved it. It was the nicest hotel I ever stayed in. Maybe I don't get out much, but I was really impressed. The staff was great, very professional. The room was beautiful, clean, and looked out on E. Bay St., about a block from the water. There was a french door and small balcony off our room which is nice to have fresh air. The hallways were beautiful with lovely carpeting and chandeliers. They provided soft white robe and slippers. The bathroom was all marble - beautiful. The hotel is in a great location along a street with many restaurants, bar, shopping, etc. There is a rooftop bar, restaurant, pool, that looks out on the city. It was a little cool when we were there, but we did go up there and there were outdoor heaters and some clear plexiglass walls which kept out the wind. Tea, coffee, and pastries were served each morning outside the elevators on your floor which was nice. Our room was so quiet. We either didn't have anyone next to us or the walls are thick enought to keep out sound. We didn't hear anyone's door closing at all. The price for a single king bed was $225.00/night and it was worth it. I would recommend this hotel to anyone!

My Husband and I were married on Kiawah Island at The River Course. He made arrangements for our wedding night to be in Charleston so as we could make our flight the next morning and not be in a rush. The room was fabulous, there were rose petals and dark chocolate covered strawberries for us to enjoy. It truly made for a wonderful Wedding Night!!!

My husband and I stayed four nights and experienced wonderful service. The hotel and
room were spotless with a gracious staff throughout the hotel. The decor is very tasteful. We will certainly return to this hotel in the future.
