The stunning setting brought me back for a second visit to the Inn at Middleton Place. The gardens are truly magical in the spring. I love the fact that the gardens are closed to other visitors in the late afternoon but are still accessible to inn guests. We wandered around among the blossoms at dusk and had the place almost to ourselves.
The inn itself has an unusual and cozy atmosphere, but as other reviewers have already pointed out, you can tell that it has been around for 25 years. A renovation is definitely overdue. I also wish that downtown Charleston was a bit closer (it's a good 20 minute drive or more). We enjoyed having a fireplace in the room as well as the evening wine and cheese. The breakfast is quite good but the selection is small unless one is willing to pay extra for a hot breakfast.
Overall, I loved the experience although I was not impressed by the condition of the Inn.More
