LOVED this hotel! It is a perfect quaint little hotel in the historic downtown Charleston area. The property has done some great restoration work that keeps you in the historic vibe of Charleston. You are also a good walking distance from King street and some great restaurants, so just park your car there and I would recommend moving everywhere on foot. I came to this hotel knowing the owner's other property in Virginia, a great vineyard with super great restaurant so I knew the hotel would be perfect just like their vineyard.

If you are looking to stay in a clean, quiet, romantic hotel/B&B, this is the place for you. We truly enjoyed the rustic yet modern feel of our accomodations, as well as the friendly staff. I really cant say enough about how the charm of this hotel enhanced our Charleston experience. The courtyard is a nice place to relax or have your complimentary glass of wine at Happy Hour- Sam was a really hospitable bartender. However, beware: only the first two glasses of wine are free, after that, they will charge you regardless of how long you are staying there). The complimentary breakfast was great, but I would suggest putting the yogurt and milk in an ice bath or cooling container of some sort, as well as checking that the bread does not have mold on it before serving. The location is a bit off the beaten path, so you will walk some to get to any action. However, this would definately not deter me from staying here again.

Room Tip: Ask to stay on the side of the hotel that doesnt face East Bay, as that is a high traffic street

The hotel provides an extremely comfortable ambiance. The accomodations are clean, modern, and relaxing with a lovely courtyard and beautifully restored buildings. The pleasant young staff are helpful and friendly; with a generally refreshing lack of formality.

A couple of suggestions. The website welcomes requests for assistance or advice by Email or phone prior to arrival. My Email inquiries were successively not noted, and later not followed-up on by the staff. I then called, and had a very pleasant conversation with a staff member, but promised return Emails were not completely followed-through. This system needs to be tightened. Second, I might suggest some diversity of the breakfast items over the course of a few days.

Overall, a very enjoyable time; loved the late afternoon complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres.
Also had the small plates dinner and this is highly recommended.

A beautiful renovation of old Charleston buildings. Decorated to perfection. The staff pleasant and efficient. We loved the breakfast on the patio. All of Charleston's charm in a lovely courtyard.
A perfect relaxing getaway.

About me-I like to stay where it feels like the region I am visiting. Not chains that decorate the same way all over the world so you don't know where you are. This place feels like Charleston thru and thru. The staff were friendly and talkative. The porches were perfect and the interiors spotless and beautiful. Sitting on the porch during a thunderstorm enjoying wine was the bomb! Everything was in walking distance. The street noise was tolerable and the construction across the street was ok (and temporary) but not if you want a nap. I will go back to Zero George Street if ever in Charleston again.

Dear Justgo64,

We are happy to hear the you enjoyed your visit to Charleston. We love our Charleston and are pleased that you spent time on our piazzas and in our drawing room. We designed them as wonderful spaces to enjoy after exploring the beautiful city streets that are right out of our front door.

We look forward to welcoming you back!

Kindest Regards,
The Zero George Team

I loved Zero George. They did a fabulous job in renovating a beautiful historic property and adding the contemporary touches to make it over the top comfortable. Lots of extras from a tasty continental breakfast to a wine and cheese hour to free waters and juice in your room. The beds...comfy and the bathrooms... large and well-appointed. We only stayed one night (no vacancy) and moved to a hotel that was much more expensive and much more ordinary. The only negative is all the construction across the street. It started very early in the morning so if you are there during the week, ask for a room away from the construction.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the construction across the street.

Dear knspr,

Thank you for your kind words about our historic property. We took care when renovating the property to be urbane + contemporary, yet continuing to appreciate our historic roots. We wish we could have accommodated you for your other nights in Charleston, and hope to have you back soon.

Kindest Regards,
The Zero George Team

Historic hotel with beautiful decors. Service is inconsistent. Some very knowledgable and helpful staff mixed with young people who know little. Our garden suite advertised a Queen bed which was in fact a Full. The other side of our room wall had daily construction noise. A door to a storage area right outside our room banged repeatedly as staff entered and exited throughout the day. Lovely free breakfast but on some days many food items, utensils, and glasses were gone prior to the posted ending time. We found the walk to town too long especially at night. On one day, the maid left our room door unlocked. Based on location and level of service the room was overpriced.
