We had a fantastic stay at Zero George. It's a wonderful mix between a hotel and a bed and breakfast, with personal service and a romantic, intimate atmosphere. The decor is stunning - soft, calming colors and a perfect mix of clean, modern lines and traditional. The all-marble bathrooms are beautiful. It's obvious that a lot of care was taken in decorating, and that impeccable attention to detail translates to every aspect of our stay at ZG. Many thoughtful little touches - Malin + Goetz toiletries above and beyond the usual shampoo, in-room mini fridge with complimentary bottled waters and Izze drinks, Keurig coffee makers, nightly turn-downs with fresh bottled water and a little treat. The breakfast each morning was a lovely spread - fresh fruits, yogurts, delicious muffins and croissants, prosciutto, cheese, hard-boiled eggs, and more. They also make you cappuccinos and lattes. The hotel itself is slightly off the beaten path, which is kind of nice! We took advantage of the $20/night valet parking and mostly walked around the city. Meeting Street was just a 5 minute walk, and King Street was about 10 minutes. We had the Garden Suite (that was the only room available at the time we were visiting) and it was lovely. The only complaint we had was that our room was advertised with a queen bed and it was actually a full (being that we typically prefer a king bed, we weren't thrilled), but the bed was very comfortable and had plush linens. We wouldn't hesitate to return to Zero George and experience some of the other lovely rooms!

This was our second stay at Zero George, the first being in May 2013 just after they opened and the recent stay was in May 2014. We booked our room in 2013 shortly after reading the initial review in Architectural Digest and wound up in the same room pictured in the article, which was pretty cool. I had some concerns when we arrived in 2013 because I had tried several times to make arrangements for dining, etc. with a concierge, and could never get a call back. I assumed the staff was trying to find its way, but when we arrived, everything went very smoothly, from a car picking us up at the airport to dinner reservations to service on the property. We loved the place so much, we made our repeat reservations to coincide with my wife's birthday. This time, the pre-arrival phone and email requests were handled in hours if not minutes. Their restaurant recommendations--The Macintosh and F.I.G.--were especially appreciated. As before, the attentive staff (all young and eager to please) were superb. The property itself is an architectural delight with wonderful porches, landscaping, and lighting. Taking coffee outside in the morning or having a nightcap on the patio were especially enjoyable. The hotel's location is very convenient to downtown and nearly every attraction is a short walk. Thanks to all these factors--and especially the staff--we strongly recommend this hotel, and we wouldn't stay anywhere else in Charleston.

Great hotel with Southern charm. We had a beautiful room, the garden suite. The staff was fantastic. Nice breakfast included. Walking distance to market and restraunts. I would definitely stay again if I come to Charleston.

Room Tip: Try the Garden Suite if you can.

Fantastic little getaway, tucked just a few blocks away from the Market area and other great restaurants. Staff were extremely helpful and accomadating if you needed anything, yet not intrusive at all. Excellent breakfast. We included the cooking school as our anniversay gift and will absolutely attend again. Great dinner, company and lots of useful tips from Randy that we will use cooking at home. Already looking to return in October and repeat the whole experience!

The property is utterly charming. The staff is friendly and goes out their way to make sure your stay is all it can be. They were very kind to work with us on a travel issue we encountered and from the moment we checked in, everything was perfect. The complex is wonderful as the ZG is comprised of a series of dwellings that have been brought together to form a truly unique spot. Apart from the rooms there are garden areas, courtyards and verandas which can be enjoyed as one wishes. The daily breakfast provides all one could want. I have read a few reviews which indicate that the offerings are repetitive and there are no warm dishes, but my guess is that those folks are just trying to be constructive. There is enough choice available on the breakfast “buffet” that one could eat something different each morning. You don’t have to eat the chocolate croissant every morning like I did! : ) In addition to breakfast, the afternoon wine & cheese was a wonderful surprise. My wife and I made wine & cheese our daily routine and used it to transition and reflect on our day and get ready for a great night. Another quick note is that the ZG has a new chef – Vinson Petrillo who won Chopped and appeard on Chopped Champions. Take a cooking class with Chef Petrillo!

Our stay was fantastic – we had everything we needed and the service was excellent in every way. Charleston is a marvelous city with many ways to spend your time. We had great meals (Poogan’s Porch, Edmund’s Oast, the Macintosh), and active days and nights (Palmetto Carriage, Charleston Harbor Tours, Holy City Ghost tour w/ Dan) – one would be hard pressed to have a bad time in Charleston and an even more difficult time to have a bad experience at the ZG.
