“Not terrible but not great.”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

We were seated quickly on a Friday night. Took forever for our drinks to be served and even longer to order our food. My salad was good and the girls I was with seemed to enjoy most their food. The chicken could have been cooked a little longer. The bathroom needed to be cleaned but wasn't unbearable. I would recommend this place maybe when they're less busy!

“What happened?”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

Sorry about this review. A W Shucks is one place we have always visited when in Charleston, but we were very unimpressed this time. Oysters were small and soupy (if that's a word!). Shrimp cocktail was good except it was sitting in a bowl of water (apparently the ice melted before it could be served). She-crab soup good. Burger was the best thing served! Sad for a seafood place we have enjoyed.

“Very friendly, great food for a great price!!”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

I made a reservation for 20 people (we took a group of kids on a mini vacation to charleston). They normally don't take reservations but the lunch time manager was extremely helpful and accommodating. From the time we got there to the time we left the staff treated us nothing less than VIP. The food Is amazing! Must get their crab legs, scallops, and mashed potatoes! Very reasonably priced with friendly atmosphere.

“Very enjoyable meal with family while in downtown Charleston”
Reviewed 18 July 2014

Dining in downtown Charleston presents many, many options, but we settled on A.W. Shucks since it is near the City Market. We were promptly greeted and seated (it was 5:30 pm on Thursday so no wait). Our server was excellent, making recommendations, etc. I chose and highly recommend the Shucks Seafood Casserole, a delicious blend of shrimp, scallops and deviled crab which was served steaming hot. My younger son raved about the bacon-wrapped,crab stuffed shrimp that he selected. A great meal, reasonably priced (for the middle of the Charleston 'touristy' zone) in a very convenient locale that we walked to.

“A very good dinner...”
Reviewed 13 July 2014 via mobile

We were looking for a good seafood place we hadn't been to before and this place fit the bill for my family and I. While the shrimp cocktail appetizer rated average, the bacon wrapped shrimp was delicious with green beans and red rice. My eldest son chose the catch of the day - Grilled swordfish - over shrimp with green beans. The swordfish came out hot off the grill and was light and flaky. Perfectly prepared. My wife enjoyed the Shrimp BLT which she found tasty. The youngest son tends to be a picky eater an stayed with a standard grilled chicken sandwich. Overall the service was prompt and attentive, the food was served with little wait time, and the atmosphere was quiet and laid back on a Sunday night allowing for casual conversation.
