Second visit to the gin joint.the cocktails are interesting and not something you have everyday. I had the unusual old fashion. The bitters were great as was the bourbon. We had snacks of the crab dip with home made chips and a pretzel with cheese. Also very good. Nice spot to stop before or after dinner in the heart of charleston

The best bar period. Nothing beats the quality and knowledge of cocktails found at this establishment. Consistent excellence in all they do. If you haven't been you must go. Once you go....you are hooked forever

We stumbled upon the Gin Joint while walking down East Bay street, just south of the Market area. The name was intriguing, and after a couple of attempts to find the entrance which is down a small walkway from East Bay Street, we found this compact bar which has a large selection of creative cocktails. Their standard list contained a variety of unique cocktails each having from 5 to 8 ingredients. Examples include the “Gaucho”, the “Gordon Gekko”, and the “Rest in Peace”. We sat at the bar and were fascinated by watching the bartender(s) mix the drinks from what seemed like hundreds of components. We sampled several of the house cocktails and enjoyed the new flavors. Bar food is served although we only tasted the sweet potato waffle with fried chicken and the Pad Thai popcorn; we suspect that the other selections are just as tasty and unique. In summary the Gin Joint is a fun place to experience the unique talents of its mixologists and we will return on our next visit to Charleston.

We walked by this little place on East Bay (downtown) a couple of times before we saw it. It sits a little back on the East side of East Bay just south of Cumberland. They have a very interesting list of drinks. The server gave us great suggestions and we had wonderful and interesting drinks. I had a Gin Collins type drink that included sage, which gave the drink a delightful lift. My husband had a daiquiri type rum drink - also quite unique and excellent. They have a nice selection of small plates and snacks so it is a great place to stop in before a late dinner or after an early dinner. Although it was cold outside we noticed a lovely outside area for seating.
