This is a new hotel, opened in spring 2014 and is located next to the town boat dock--an attractive feature. There is a shuttle that runs allegedly every hour to take guests to Waterfront Park (the hotel is NOT downtown) A too-small swimming pool is located adjacent to the docking areas. Rooms are adequate but carpet needs vacuum. Perhaps because the hotel is so new, numerous service issues need to be worked out--e.g., the maid does not remember to bring a bathmat even when needed and housekeeping is lackluster; the waitstaff is indifferent, untrained and ignores the guests 2/3 of the time (on several days,we had to interrupt two waitstaff members who were idly chatting to place our order): no menu is made available for the different prices of breakfast items if one is not having the buffet; eggs on buffet took turns between being dried out and undercooked depending on the day, etc. The real cincher was that on a Saturday night the shuttle did not come into town to pick up a large number of guests who were waiting there. After calling the hotel to find out why, the shuttle was finally sent to do a pick up but the desk staff denied that there was regular hourly pickup--desppite the fact that the usually very courteous and well informed van drivers had assured everyone that pick up was automatic at a certain hour! And the list goes on. Clearly management needs to work out a myriad of glitches in service.

Room Tip: make sure you ask for a waterfront room; otherwise you have a wonderful view of a hot concrete par...

We were in town for a wedding and just stayed the 1 night but it was clear that this hotel staff and management cares about its guests.

The rooms were very well apportioned and VERY clean (note if you have a Kuerig bring your own K-Cups for additional coffee -- there is a Kuerig in each room).

The interior of the hotel is nicely decorated and has a plush feel. There is a bar/restaurant area that was closing down breakfast when we checked in (early) at about 11. There was a sign indicating that lunch and dinner are served DAILY but, this appears to NOT be the case on the weekends. So, we checked with the front desk staff who was more than happy to offer up some delivery choices. We selected on and ate pool side.

The pool sits right by the harbor and is very narrow but adequate for a quick dip. There are plenty of lounges and chairs and a few tables with chairs and umbrellas. We ate our delivered lunch pool side. It was very nice.

The hotel has covered parking which, at the time of this writing, was free of charge.

The staff was attentive and very helpful.

I cannot remember which room number we had but ours overlooked the parking lot/garage. I am sure this was the case because we didn't request a water view. Which was just fine given our short stay.

The hotel is somewhat difficult to get to, access requires some twists and turns, but is worth it in my opinion.

We would surely stay here again

The Hilton Garden Inn located on the waterfront has an incredible view. The room was huge, comfortable and clean. We had every need met. The shuttle for downtown Charleston was convenient. The driver was very knowledgeable about the city and helped us with a map and directions. The breakfast was interesting. My omelet was overcooked and brown. I asked for mushrooms and received olives instead. The potatoes were cold and rubbery. How do you make rubbery potatoes is beyond me. It was not worth the $14.95 that I paid.

Room Tip: Do pay the extra money to receive a marina view. It is worth the ten dollars a night.

This is a new HGI, but the building looks like it had been repurposed--does not look like any other HGI we've stayed in. It turned out that the hotel building is brand new. The room was very nice--had a balcony overlooking a marina. There was a free shuttle to the touristy part of Charleston. Housekeeping needs to be improved, just little things. Our carpet was not vacuumed during our entire stay (3 nights). I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent stay. Extremely clean! Not a speck of dirt or dust anywhere. Very modern look. Warm and inviting. Very quick check-in. Free shuttle service provided to and from the historic area of the city. Will stay there again if ever in the area.

Great Hotel! Great Location. Loved IT! My wife and I stayed for our 14th wedding anniversary. I loved the room we were in. Over looking the marina was nice. The hotel being brand new was a plus for us. We were only 5 min from downtown. If you don't want to drive the shuttle will take you to Waterford Park in the French Quarter.

Overall the hotel is great. We requested a balcony on reservation, but they could not guarantee a balcony until arrival, although we were paying for a waterfront room. This was my only dissapointment, other than the fact that i did not know our waterfront view would be many many boats.
