Owner description: We were formerly Charleston Ventures Tours, LLC however recently new companies have popped up with similar names to ours plus the fact that we are so highly rated with our hotel concierges and online review sites we felt a rebranding was in order. Our new name, Southern Accent Tours describes us perfectly.....local tour guides that have a passion for our lovely city! We offer FREE hotel pickup from all hotels downtown. HISTORICAL CITY TOURS Take a fabulous 90 minute ride on our plush minibuses as we take you back in time and tour Charleston's Historic District. Most all tours are conducted by the owner. You will quickly discover his love for the city and enthusiasm for hosting visitors. City Tours depart the Charleston Visitor Center at 9:30, 12:00, 2:30 and 4:30 everyday. PLANTATION TOURS There are four plantations in the area that are open to the public; Boone Hall, Magnolia Plantation, Middleton Place and Drayton Hall. We are the only company that goes to all four. Each of the plantations has its own unique gift to offer visitors ranging from immaculate gardens to original slave quarters and everything in between. Plantation Tours last approximately 4 hours and depart the Charleston Visitor Center at 9:30 and 12:00 everyday. “Skip the others! There is no other!”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

As first time visitors to Charleston, my husband and I wanted to take a guided tour to see the highlights of this historic city. Our hotel recommended and set up a Historic City tour with Charleston Ventures. We chose to add a visit to Fort Sumpter on to our package.

Our day began with a 9:00 am pick-up at our hotel, which took us to the visitors center. Pam, our driver, must be one of the kindest, most pleasant people I've ever met. She went out of her way to make us feel welcome!

Upon arrival at the visitors center, we had time to use the restrooms, shop the gift shop, and get a bottled beverage. Our Historic City tour began at 9:30 am. It was 90 minutes long. It was in an air conditioned mini bus. Richard, our tour guide and owner of the company, was very knowledgable. He made the tour very interesting! I learned more on this tour, than any I've ever been on in all of the cities I have visited. After the tour, we were taken to a deli near Fort Sumpter, where we had time to eat lunch and then walk to the Liberty Square for the Fort Sumpter visit. On the conclusion of the visit (approx. 2 hours later), we were greeted by Pam's smile, waiting to return us back to our hotel! This was the perfect morning, returning us back to out hotel by 2:30pm, leaving our afternoon open for shopping. I highly recommend this tour company!

“Historic Tour of Charleston”
Reviewed 4 August 2014

My husband and I stayed in Mt. Pleasant and the tour bus picked us up at our resort. We learned so much about the history of Charleston and the 90 min. tour was fun! We decided to stay in Charleston for a few hours to investigate the Market area and have lunch. We were happy to meet the tour bus back at the Visitor's Center and the guide delivered us back to our resort. I'm glad we took this tour! Highly recommend to others!

“Great tour”
Reviewed 2 August 2014 via mobile

Our tour guide in the city was terrific. He showed us many interesting sites. After the 90 minute tour he dropped us off at the fort Sumter park to catch the ferry. The price of our ticket included both the 90 min tour and the fort Sumter trip. Well worth it.

“Great Way to see Charleston”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

My mother and I are visiting Charleston as a girls' trip. We wanted to do a bus tour because it would give us the chance to see lots of things without having to walk in the heat (98-100 degrees today!)
When we saw the brochure that said the bus would pick us up at our hotel in Mt. Pleasant, we selected Charleston Ventures. Richard called to let us know he'd be at the hotel in 2-3 minutes. He picked us up, we went to the Visitors'Center and got the rest of the group. We had a very informative trip and learned so much about the city of Charleston! Richard was very knowledgeable and friendly.
After the tour, we stayed in the city for a few more hours. Then Charleston Ventures provided our trip back to the hotel that afternoon.
I would highly recommend this company!

“A Highlight of our vacation”
Reviewed 23 July 2014

This was a wonderful way to see the 'inside' scoop on the city, led by Richard. He was excellent and so knowledgeable. You could tell he had a real love and passion for the city. The tour started promptly on time, we never felt hurried, were encouraged to ask questions we may have and the 90 minutes went really fast! We took the 9:30 tour on a Monday morning and it was easy for him to navigate around the city with his wonderful van. We were comfortable and the large windows afforded us a great view. He had a way of making the history come alive. He even recommended a place for lunch and helped us to get to that destination after the tour was over. We would highly recommend this tour.
