“Quiet Sunday night”
Reviewed 14 July 2014 via mobile

This was our final evening in charleston and we were looking for fresh shrimp. Vincent Chicco's had the perfect fresh pasta, fresh tomatoes, fresh scampi dish called spaghetti con gamberoni. The pomdoro dish on the other hand was only average. The wait staff attentive but this was an unusually slow evening. I would return here in the future.

“I hope our experience was a rare exception!”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

I have lived in Charleston for over 20 years and always been a fan of 39 Rue de Jean and other Holy City Hospitality restaurants. However, the experience 4 of us had at Vincent Chicco's last weekend was extremely disappointing on a variety of levels. The food was barely worthy of Olive Garden status, service extremely slow and menu limited. I don't know if it was his first night or he was just having a bad day, but our server was clumsy, untimely and unknowledgeable. He had zero knowledge about the menu and even confused my date's request for a dish with red sauce and advisied her to order the Carbonara which of course is made with a creamy white sauce. Somehow, he also managed to bring me a plate of spaghetti & meatballs when I ordered the spaghetti with shrimp in a garlic and white wine sauce. He could not tell one of our other guests what the daily vegetable plate was nor could he manage to open our bottle of wine beside the table easily. We literally left the restaurant shaking our heads at how bad it all was. Even more disappointing that no manager approached us to offer anything to compensate the experience we were having. Again, I hope this was a rare night for the sake of the Group's investment in this place, but I will not return. There are just too many amazing options in Charleston now to patronize sub-par restaurants.

“An Italian Jewel in Low Country”
Reviewed 6 July 2014 via mobile

Having our fill of excellent low country and seafood cuisine, my wife and I were clamoring for something nearby(we had been walking miles last few days!), but worthy of our last night in Charleston; something... Italian! But where? Right around the corner from our hotel, between King and Meeting, in a little alley off John Street, was Vincent Chicco's, an attractive looking exterior, but how good could it be? As we walked in we were transported to Northern Italy-sand colored walls, wooden beams, high vaulted ceilings, paintings of the famiglia on the walls. Our hostess was friendly, and our server Melodye was delightful and knowledgeable. The wine menu was not overly large, but varied in selection of high end Italian selections. I had the Vestini Campagno, a rich red; my wife, who normally drinks Moscatos and Reislings was very pleased with the Pighin Sauvignon Blanc.
We were served fresh warm bread with olive oil , sea salt and Parmesan cheese. Little did we know that would be our dessert ,too. Needed it for every last bit of sauce! The Gorgonzola salad was unique, with figs and pears marinated in 15 year old balsamic vinegar.
For her entree my wife had the Spaghetti con Mollusco- spaghetti (did I mention that all their pasta is home made?) with whole clams, garlic, white wine and Parmesan cheese, with a subtle and sublime lemony edge. I had the Sicilian Sunday Gravy- cavatelli pasta, slow cooked pork, beef, and veal,Pecorino Romano and ricotta- a rich and hearty sauce!
No room for dessert, but the menu was tempting!
We wholeheartedly recommend this one!

“Secert Find”
Reviewed 6 July 2014

Happened to come across this restaurant whilst jogging down a quite street. Had a look at the menu and the inside, thought it would definitely worth a try. Looking at local leaflets etc. other similar restaurants were advertising much more and had money off vouchers. Somehow we decided on Vincent Chicco's, the ambience was nice, we sat upstairs which gives a lofty experience our server was great ask for Eric. Everything was going great until we found some cleaning wire in one of the meals Arrrr Although everyone including the manager was apologetic to our surprise as compensation the manager offered one free scoop of ice cream even though the person eating the free cleaning wire dish was put off the main meal. Shame the manager gets paid to make these decisions....
