The King Charles Inn is perfectly located near everything you want to see and do in Charleston. The rooms were small but efficiently set up to be comfortable. The restaurant downstairs was great for breakfast on the one day it rained. Very friendly service and not over priced by most hotel standards. We did not get to use the pool or other amenities. The staff, with the exception of one girl at the front desk, were extremely helpful and accommodating. If we travel to Charleston again, we will definitely stay at the King Charles Inn again.

We checked in on a Friday and the construction crew next door was just getting off work. Be aware that they work during the week and are building a new hotel next door. Parking is also hard to find at hotel so you may have to park across the street.

Room Tip: Book a room in the middle of the hotel, it is shaped like a U. This gets you away from the noise ne...

Great location, clean, well appointed room (with easily accessible plugs and free wi fi) what more could a girl want? Small snafus were addressed in a nice email from the manager after I completed a survey upon leaving. There was some construction noise from the lot next door but they were really on top of it. Great cheese at happy hour and even the other guests were friendly due to the great vibe. I'll definitely stay at the King Charles again on my next trip to Charleston. Loved the generously provided reccomendations. Especially Jennifer at the front desk sending us to the nearby Muse for dinner. The staff all around, were very helpful and friendly. Calling for a cab and warning me about traffic on the way to the airport. Walkable location meant we did not need a car but as my friend drove in from Atlanta, the free parking was terrific.

We booked this hotel partly because it is a Best Western, one of the chains we earn points with. Well, between the time we booked and the time we traveled, they left the Best Western family but we did not know it until I got home and realized we had not earned points for our stay.

That issue aside, this is a very nice hotel in the historic center of Charleston. We arrived quite early in the day and although our room was not yet ready, the desk staff checked us in and took care of all the paperwork so that when we returned later in the afternoon we could head straight to the room. The hotel is very conveniently located to all the destinations we wanted to see in Charleston, so we set out walking after the check-in.

The room was large, well-appointed and comfortable, though the view was limited to a parking garage. We especially liked the very large bathroom which allowed us to spread our stuff out, and the shower which had both a regular head and a sprayer on a hose.

Breakfast is not included in the room price, but there is a pub next to the lobby which offered a nice menu at reasonable prices and with exceptionally fast service.

Although we checked out in the morning, we walked around the city until the afternoon and the desk staff allowed us to keep our car in the garage until we left town.

This is a hotel I would return to on a future visit to Charleston.

My wife & I stayed here for a week and all I can say is, WOW! Right from check-in, the doorman John greeted us w/a handshake & warm smile. All of the front desk staff was friendly, attentive & helpful the whole time we were there. The pub is cute & quaint, and the managers reception is a great idea. Our room was simply amazing, and I especially liked the Keurig coffee maker. The reservations manager, Casey, took the time to put champagne/chocolate in our room, knowing it was our anniversary..very sweet of her! The location is perfect, & close to everything. This is the first hotel in my 45 years that felt like home, & we were genuinely sad to leave. We will be visiting Charleston again someday, & there is nowhere else we will stay!

We stayed 2 nights in Charleston at this hotel and couldn't have been happier with our choice! We had a king room with a parking lot view. Because we didn't overlook the street I think our room was quieter. The room was plush, bedding, towels, furnishings, etc. The staff at the hotel was so friendly and helpful. The manager recommended a city tour to us, and one of the clerks at the front desk handled the reservations and we were so happy with the tour. We learned so much about this beautiful city! We were located just a block from the city market, which was a fun spot. And there were such a choice of restaurants within walking distance that we didn't use our car till we left the hotel. The only possible drawback is that the soundproofing between rooms isn't fabulous, but it is a historic hotel so that's understandable, and we really didn't have an issue with it. I highly recommend this particular hotel!
