“Wonderful Experience”
Reviewed 24 February 2014 via mobile

The King Charles Inn was a fantastic experience. It brought the old world flavor of Charleston to it inside and out. The customer service was at a very high level with every detail hit. A very convenient location to ask amenities in downtown Charleston and the peninsula. Thank you for a great trip

Easy to find with free car park and wifi. Can walk to all the main areas. Oldie worldie with friendly staff. Room was probably one of their small ones but really good facilities. Free newspaper and afternoon cheese and biscuits.
A good location for plantations and Patriots point although we did not get to them due to weather. If you really want to see the Plantations etc you need to ring in advance if the weather is bad

This was our first time in Charleston. We stayed at the King Charles Inn for 3 nights. We were greeted with a smile from the moment we arrived on property. Fast friendly check in and we were upgraded to a room with a private balcony. The balcony was a nice touch but we didn't get much use since it was cold and not the best of views. It looked over the parking area and the other side of hotel. The room was spacious with a small fridge and keurig coffee maker. The bathrooms were also a good size. The entire hotel was clean and staff was friendly. Centrally located. We walked everywhere except for when we ate at Taco Boy and Martha Lou's. We will definitely stay at King Charles on our next visit.

Pros- free parking, free internet, comfy bed, location and staff.
Cons- none

We have stayed here three times, and have enjoyed ourselves every time. Rooms are well appointed, breakfast is excellent and have enjoyed the pool and patio. Maureen, the manager, sets new standards for friendly and accommodating service, and she gives great advice about what to see and where to eat.

My daughter and I stayed at the King Charles while visiting the College of Charleston. It was the perfect location. The hotel is only 2 blocks from the City Market and all the amazing restaurants, one block from KIng Street and all the shopping. It was an easy and beautiful walk from the College of Charleston. The hotel staff were so friendly and helpful. The rooms were spotless and lovely. The bathroom was spacious and had tons of soft towels. We did not take advantage of the hotel restaurant or bar but it looked nice. The King Charles is one of the few hotels that offer free on site parking. The rooftop pool would be wonderful in the summer! The beds were very comfortable and had lots of pillows. Fabulous stay!

On short notice, my wife and I decided to spend our 30th anniversary in Charleston, South Carolina. Having lodged at the King Charles Inn previously on numerous occasions, we sent an email to inquire of availability. Shortly thereafter, we received a phone call confirming our one-night stay in a queen-bed room. Upon our arrival the next day, we were told that, due to our past customer loyalty and the occasion of our wedding anniversary, the management had upgraded our reservation, at no additional charge, to a king-bed suite with balcony. Entering the suite we found truffles, a complementary bottle of champagne, and a handwritten note from General Manager Maureen Sheridan welcoming us back and thanking us for choosing to celebrate our special occasion with the King Charles Inn. These gracious and unrequested gestures confirmed why we return to the King Charles Inn year after year: the management and staff takes care of its guests. The rooms are spacious and well-appointed, the management is professional and available at all times, and the staff is friendly, courteous, and excels in second-mile customer service. The grounds and the hotel are immaculate, and we find updates and renovations upon each visit. The location is the best in Charleston; within walking distance to the Market, the Visitor's Center, the shops of King Street, the restaurants of Meeting Street and East Bay Street, and historic homes and churches. The one major attribute has to be the parking: it's free, it's on-site, it's off-street, and much of it is covered. During each visit, we arrive hours prior to our check-in time, and are issued our parking pass upon arrival, allowing us to park on-site and walk to and shop the Market and to enjoy lunch. Later in the day, we receive a complementary phone call from the staff informing us that our room is ready. The King Charles Inn truly is Charleston's best lodging experience and value. Period.

Room Tip: Request a room near the lobby elevator to eliminate hallway walk time.
