Top floor suite was spacious and had amenities of small, fully-equipped apartment, including lots of closet space. Skylights provided great natural lighting. Had homeyness of grandma's house along with super energetic and thoughtful staff (as a first-timer to the city, I was glad to receive an insider's advice on how to best spend our time there). Scrumptious breakfast on veranda and equally good afternoon snacks …. Lynn is a pro.

My husband and I decided to stay at the Cannonboro Inn for our 30th wedding anniversary. When we entered the inn, its charm and old world beauty took my breath away. Everything from the furniture in the common areas, to the canopy bed in our suite, to the gorgeous wallpaper was so lovely that it looked like the inn had come from the pages of a decorator's magazine. We chose the inn from pictures online and when we arrived in person we were not disappointed. Our queen size bed was so comfortable. It felt like there was a featherbed mattress under us. The only problem that I had with the room was that it was too quiet! I had to ask Trish (one of the lovely housekeeping staff) for a fan because it was too quiet for me to sleep!

The staff was more like family than employees of the inn. Most of the time we saw Lynn and Trish. They were the best! They were so kind and always there to help us with whatever we needed. Those ladies have the patience of saints!

The breakfasts were out of this world! Each morning Lynn (the Manager and a gourmet cook) would make something so delicious for us all that I asked her for a couple recipes and she was nice enough to share with me. In the afternoon there would be both red and white wines and always something fabulous prepared by Lynn. We would watch the clock for 4 p.m. so that we didn't miss afternoon gourmet snacks and wine.

Then there was Barry. He is the owner of the inn and an amazing history buff. We could have listened to him for hours talking about local history of the houses. I don't think that there is anything that Barry doesn't know about Charleston. He is truly amazing and a wonderful host.

We had a rental car so it took no time at all to reach the downtown area. We asked Lynn about a couple of restaurants that we had been looking at for dinner one night and she told us about one called Hank's. It was amazing - she made a reservation for us; don't try going without one. The food was so good that we couldn't eat dessert so we ordered it and brought it back to the inn. If you have the chance, go to Hank's!!! Well worth it. Thanks to Lynn, we found that out.

All in all, our trip was just wonderful and the folks at the inn played a big role in making it so.
When you travel, and especially when you stay at an inn, you never know what your experience will truly be like until you meet the people who work there. At a large hotel you are just a name without a face, but at an inn, you get to interact with the people who work there daily. They can tell you things about their city and places to go that you would never get from a travel guide. We enjoyed every minute spent with the folks from the Cannonboro Inn and consider them our friends. We would go back there in a New York minute!

The charm of this b&b is nothing compared with the warmth and attitude of the staff who work here. From the delicious breakfasts served, to the free wine in the afternoon - the ladies who serve and prepare everything make you feel incredibly welcome. They went out of their way to make sure we had a good stay. They arranged a walking tour, booked restaurants and taxis and were just generally helpful. Couldn't commend them enough. The Cannonboro Inn felt less like a b&b and more like an extension of home.

We stayed in a suite on the top floor, with a sitting room, kitchen and two beds and TVs. Innkeeper and staff were nice, breakfast was okay (not to the level of most good B and B's), wine and snacks were good in the afternoon. A healthy walk to many attractions. Could use new mattresses and a more ambitious breakfast, better cooking.

It is unfortunate the mornings you had breakfast with us that you weren't satisfied. We really take pride in our menu choices and cooking skills. Had you brought it to our attention during your stay we could have made you something more to your liking.
Our mattresses are replaced on a timely basis. I have taken your opinion of the bed and I am sorry the firmness wasn't to what you might be used to.
Thank you for the review and hope to have you return.
Safe Travels!

Great find for us and we will be back. We had a great time. Clean place and the people were very nice. We travel a lot to Charleston and it's right close to Upper King District which is really cool area. Great deal as well. Close to all the great restaurants here as well, The Ordinary, The Grocery and Two Boroughs Larder.

We just spent 4 nights at the Cannonboro Inn and once again we had another wonderful visit. As always, we had a delicious gourmet breakfast each morning and such comfortable sleeping accommodations. The staff are so helpful, personable and greet you with your name and a smile. This was our fourth visit to Charleston and each time we stay at the Cannonboro. It is so convenient to historic Charleston and to MUCS. We highly recommend this quaint bed and breakfast with so much personality and charm!!

We spent three nights at this quaint, historic B&B, and enjoyed the experience. Being an owner of a French B&B, I understand the challenges and the differences that went into our stay. I understand the Charleston market. With that said, our accommodations, meals, service, and shared time at Cannonboro could not have been any more pleasant anywhere else in Old Charleston. Lynn made sure things went smoothly and the rest of the staff [I apologize for not catching names] were helpful and efficient ... with one young woman greeting me in my native language ! Merci. We met owner Barry Carroll on our last morning; a charming addition to the stories being told around the table. Our stay at the Cannonboro Inn served our every need while enjoying the town.
