I can't say enough about this hotel. Charming inside and out; very short walk to the highlights of historic Charleston; service was great; beautiful, large rooms. There is a little road noise, but it is way less than any other city hotel I've stayed in. In fact, if you are from any city whatsoever, you will be shocked how little you hear. If you are from a rarely traveled suburb or a way-set-back country home, it may be a surprise to you. Do not over think this, though - unless a dropped cotton swab wakes you up, it will not be an issue. Just being completely open for the review, and I know some people have never stayed closer to a city than the chain brand at local highway exit. That all said, though, it would be a crime to visit Charleston and not stay in the historic area - especially to not stay at this hotel!
The key points: amazing hotel, great location, excellent service, breakfast and "wine time" are great, and the pub is a perfect place to have a quiet beer or cocktail to end the day. Plus, their coffee service is VERY good coffee - not the typical cheap, watered down stuff. I know that's not exactly a decision-maker for many, but it is just one of many examples of how much the proprietors and staff care about the customer, and that shows itself in every aspect of the Ansonborough Inn. Overall, very highly recommended!
