Our second stay at the Embassy Suites Historic Charleston was everything we had hoped for when we decided to return to Charleston. The hotel and its wonderful staff will make your stay in downtown Charleston a memorable experience. Everything from the cooked to order breakfast choices to the evening manager's reception to the attention to detail make this hotel the perfect choice for families (or anyone) visiting Charleston. The location is ideal, being on museum row and a block from King Street shopping, not to mention its proximity to great restaurants. Please consider this fine property when visiting Charleston.

Room Tip: The first floor is perfect for everything the hotel has to offer.

Stayed at this Embassy Suites during some business meetings one week. The hotel staff is very friendly and professional. My room was comfortable but a little tight. The room walls were a bit thin as reported in some other reviews. I give the hotel credit for making sure the air conditioning and the hot water work properly. My room was colder than the refrigerator in my room ( I set the room temp that way). The hot water in the shower will scold you if you are not careful. I prefer that than other hotels where I can hardly get hot water to come out. The managers reception was nice but seating is somewhat limited like the breakfast area. Breakfast was great and well organized. The entire hotel was quite clean and taken care of by the staff. This Embassy Suites is right near a ton of great restaurants on King St. You can walk to restaurants on King St. or down to the Charleston Market from this hotel. Overall, I enjoyed staying at this hotel and appreciate the service the staff exhibited during my stay.

We stay here when attending family events, so our trips are usually more function than vacation.
Honestly, I just don't have any complaints. While I'm not in love with the decor, every single member of the staff is amazing. The location is fantastic, the breakfast (included) is far better than you'd expect, and there's a complimentary happy hour every evening in the lobby.
And for history fans, the hotel used to be the original citadel. The fact that it's designed like a castle/fortress and retains small touches such as arrow loops is not kitsch, it's legit.

Room Tip: Some rooms face a church with loud bells, so be sure to either request a different location or bring earplugs.

Have stayed here twice now. Nice hotel, typical Embassy Suites, although it's in an historical builiding so that makes it a little different. I actually had a gun turret in my room! Great location - close to alot of things and walking distance to most. This hotel backs up to King Street so restaurants and shopping are right there. It's about a 10 minute walk to the market area. The breakfast buffet was very good with my only complaint about it being that there isn't enough seating (a common issue at Embassy Suites). Hotel seems to be maintained well and was clean. Staff was very nice and accommodating. Will definitely stay here again.

This is not your typical Embassy Suites since it is in a historical building that has been converted to a hotel. It has all the ammenties associated with an Embassy Suites but the rooms are not as large and the walls seemed a little thin. It does have a nice patio to sit out and enjoy your drink from the manager's reception. The hotel is right next to Marion Square - a nice park that has a farmer's market on Saturdays. It is walking distance to shopping on King St, restaurants and historical sites in town. It is near the Visitor's Center and there is a free trolly if you don't want to walk. I can't speak to the value since I used HiltonHonor's points, but this is about what you'd expect from an Embassy Suites in what I think is a good location. The staff was very friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the park.
