“Exellent facility, pleasant stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

An older facility, but well maintained and nicely decorated. The staff was outstanding, helping with transportation, questions and lost items. Only a few blocks from the market and close to excellent shopping on King Street.

Decent location. Second floor room windows were so small we felt like we were in the basement. First impression as we drove up the to the door was a bunch of limo drivers waiting to make airport runs. They seemed to rule the roost because there was not a bellman in sight. They were cleaning their tires and leaning on our car as they chatted. It was so crazy, we almost drove away. When we told front desk staff, they seemed more offended than concerned. The next morning at check-out was worse. They had lost one family's car! Oh, and by the way, breakfast at this hotel is pure chaos. We are huge fans of most Hilton properties, but we would never stay here again.

Staying right in the historic district, especially in what was once The Citadel, was the perfect choice. The view of the park, wonderful breakfast, customer service and attention, Happy Hour and quick valet parking. Excellent place. ONE problem... We used the living room pull out couch as the third bed. The mattress on that sofa must have been 30 years old! Please update the sofa beds!...... Otherwise, loved this hotel

Room Tip: Unless they have changed the couches, put that sofa mattress on the floor. Don't even attempt to...

We appreciate your honest feedback and are so glad to hear that you thought our hotel was an excellent choice. However, we do apologize that you thought our sofa bed mattresses were uncomfortable. Our management team and staff are looking into new ways to help revamp our hotel to make it better for you and future guests. Please still keep us in mind the next time Charleston is in your traveling plans.

We booked this from Australia and were very pleased with both the hotel and its location. The rooms were large and it is a very historical building as it used to be an arsenal and fort. One bonus is if you are travelling for a few weeks as we were they have a guest coin laundry which was a godsend. Easy to walk to the main visitors centre where all the tours go from.Staff were friendly and very helpful.

Room Tip: We booked a suite which had a separate lounge and were on the ground floor which was very convenient...

Great location near the trolley pickup and wonderful staff at the hotel. Breakfast is great. Great place to stay with easy access to all the historical sites. The rooms are not newly decorated and have some wear on them but okay for a family with children. Small pool for children for night swimming after a hot day in Charleston. For the price and location it is a great place for a family vacation.

We were in Charleston for one night and I thought the pictures online were really neat. This place is amazing. I love the atmosphere. Staff were friendly and the rooms were very clean. We took a nice walk through a park and around the block. I would stay here again.

The property is just outside the main core but not far to walk to shopping and restaurants. It is a little less expensive $323.48 taxes in for a king room but add on the valet parking of $21.70. The breakfast was included and it was quite good in a moderately busy breakfast room. Property was clean and beds good. Only issue was the windows were about 7 feet high in the room so hard to see out. After all is was an old fort. Really, it was a good stay but we should have stayed at our original pick which was more downtown.

Beautiful Charleston though with lots of history.
