“Wonderful stay.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 August 2014

Hotel is within walking distance of all the major spots in downtown Charleston. The atrium was a nice place to sit and have a drink. The furniture in the room has an antique look, the sofa cushions not comfortable due to being a pullout. The open bar in the evening is always a plus when staying at Embassy.
Pool area needs some refurbishing, there was some algae buildup around the edges. Maybe a thorough cleaning.
Staff was friendly and helpful. Bed was comfortable.

Great Place to stay it is actually a historic site, A citadel, Has gun-ports in the rooms. Great pictures of the building in the 1800's & early 1900's on the mezzanine level. The staff was very friendly and gave up some info on the free shuttle that stops right across the street. Walking distance of market st. Etc .

Room Tip: Tghe rooms are somewhat smaller than usual for Embassy Suites due to it being a civil war era tpye r...

Just returned form a wonderful trip to Charleston and Beaufort south Carolina. We had a wonderful tour of St Helena's Island and enjoyed the ambience of the cities of Charleston and Savannah. The tour of St Helena was an educational experience in the Gullah culture. We stayed at the Embassy Suites on Meeting Street in Charleston. The staff at the hotel was excellent. Service was exceptional and the breakfast was fresh and hot every morning. I have stayed at Embassy Suites before and was somewhat disappointed in our accommodations. This was not the two bedroom suites we had reserved. In fact we were told that in this particular hotel there were only two such suites. The accommodations were very tight for three women. The room would perhaps better be described as a mini- suite. If I were traveling by myself or with one other person I might consider staying there again but I definitely would not stay again with three adults. Having said that the location I found to be excellent and if you can stand being crowed into the small suites, it's okay.

Room Tip: The rooms open onto the atrium and the small window view we had was that of King Street and a parkin...

I have stayed in many hotels and for the price this hotel did not impress me in the least. The front desk supervisor was very helpful and courteous but everyone else fell short. There were a few front desk associates that bordered on rude and just did not seem to care at all about guests. We paid close to $400 per night. When I turned on the spigot main area sink it sputtered and out came tinted water with different particles floating in it. The fold out sofa bed was much more comfortable than the actual double beds in the room. The room often had a muggy musty smell when returning from daytime activities. It was an extremely hot weekend and the air conditioner seemed to be struggling to cool the room efficiently.
The maintenance employee was very nice as was the breakfast staff. The breakfast was free and it offered a lot of variety.
Some of the valet employees were really nice but some didn't seem to care.
The roomed seemed to be clean, no visible problems there.
The water temp in the room could get extremely hot so I would be careful when bathing small children.

Great location for this charming hotel; within walking distance of the College of Charleston and all the downtown historic center and actvities... Very charming hotel lobby to grab a drink and bite to eat at the end of your day!

Front desk needs retraining in customer care/relation/courtesy. One of the rooms that I booked was not ready, after arriving after 3: pm. Moreover, the young woman at the front desk didn't seem to care. I went back countless times to inquire about the room. She left on break or for the day and didn't even have the decency, or extend any courtesy, by informing her replacement. I had to re-register again. As an HHilton member, this is unacceptable and does not represent the Hilton bran, that I'm accustomed to. Unacceptable!

We were told we would have 2 beds in our suite, but only had one bed and a worn out, cheap, very uncomfortable sofa bed as our second bed. The bathroom tile was very dirty. We paid approximately $350 for a $100 room. Our future visits to Charleston will not include the highly overpriced Embassy Suites.
