There are too many better options in Charleston. The Indigo Inn is in a great location but is a little rough around the edges. The room décor is old and dated and not in a charming historic charlestonian way. The staff is friendly and helpful but not enough to bump their rating higher. I contemplated giving the Indigo 2 stars, but thought that may be a little harsh.
ADVICE--Double check your email confirmation. This hotel group has three hotels in Charleston and may book you at another hotel without telling you. I had originally called and made a reservation at the Indigo Inn's sister property, the Jasmine House. Upon review of the confirmation email, I noticed that the RSVP was made for the indigo inn. When I called them back to let them know about the discrepancy, I was told that the Jasmine House was sold out, and we were therefore given a room at the Indigo. They said the Indigo was very nice and we would be just as happy there. In hindsight, we weren’t, but I can't fault the hotel because I made the decision to keep the RSVP.
Pro's: Excellent location, quaint courtyard, complimentary wifi, breakfast and afternoon wine and cheese.
Con's: Shower early if you want hot water, old décor (not in a good way), price is high for what you get.
NOTE--I would recommend the Meeting Street Inn, which is another sister property to the Indigo Inn.
