I had to stay at this hotel because I conference I attended was held within. The service was good to excellent, but the hotel food was atrocious: overcooked, bland, and somewhat overpriced -- all that Charleston cuisine is not famous for. Most travelers weren't in my situation, but make sure you arrange for a cab or shuttle and go to one of the local restaurants! Cabs are not expensive and easy for the front desk to arrange. Of the local tours, I most liked the Gullah tour.
