This is a good Marriott hotel. The facility is great and lobby is spacious. The room is comfortable and clean as well. The restaurant food could be better. I expected better good from Marriott. We came as a group. Dinner had tenderloin and chicken breast. The tenderloin was over cooked and chicken was dry. I must say the good was a little disappointing

I was here with 9 of my students from Virginia Tech on an annual conference which is held in various places in the Southeast. This was by far the nicest Marriott property I have stayed at. Elegant without being stuffy. Beautifully appointed common facilities as well as the rooms. While we didn't have time, the outdoor patio looked so inviting and had outdoor heaters. The conference was well-hosted by the Citadel but the hotel also seems to be a big part of it running so smoothly. The presentation spaces were roomy and comfortable. The ballroom was huge and just beautiful at night for the big banquet....although the waitstaff person designated for our table was not an example of Southern charm and almost rude at times. The elevators worked really well - moving lots of people who need to go and up or down at the same time is a real test for that and there were almost no waits. The advisors had evening drinks in the hotel restaurant which was nice without being ultra-fancy. The fire-roasted pizza was excellent! This property is not in the downtown historic part of Charleston but closer to the Citadel campus - within walking distance. Parking onsite was ample and FREE.

Room Tip: An upper floor room with a river view is very nice. Mine was on 11. Many of the rooms have titled sl...

My husband and I go here when we need a break from the stress of everyday life. We really like the outdoor bar/lounge area. The sunset over the river is beautiful. The rooms are always clean and the beds are comfy. It is a short drive down to the historic area of Charleston.

Room Tip: We like high level rooms so we have concierge access. If you have a room facing the baseball field y...

The Southern hospitality in this hotel was wonderful! Everyone so friendly and helpful. The front staff always had time to give us directions or answer any other questions. They were always smiling and friendly. The food was very tasty and the waiters/waitresses doing a great job. We wish to especially mention (Marcus) as he was our shuttle driver often. He is so friendly and kind and always with that ever so happy smile. Also interested in what we do and where we live. We need to send him a sheep. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the maids helpful and friendly. KUDOS to all of you at this Marriott !!! :) Thanks for a great stay!

The waitstaff and valet people, Marcus Poinsett, were GREAT! We really enjoyed our stay. The food was good and staff was very helpful. We will hopefully come back and visit. We didn't get to do eveything we wanted to in Charleston.

This property had decent prices for what they offer. Decent size rooms, friendly staff and an awesome pool/hot tub round out a property that is conscientious to the convention center and downtown charleston. Make sure to catch the free shuttle to town, a cab back is only about $7. There is not really enough parking in property but it is free and you'll eventually find a spot around the back. The onsite shop and Starbucks make this a friendly hotel for those who are on the road frequently. Can't go wrong if you don't need a luxury property.

Hotel staff very friendly and helpful at check in. Rooms (or at least ours) was rather small and the sliding door leaked air. Being a cold night it was tough to get enough heat. While this isn't central to the downtown area, they do offer shuttle service to the city's center for $ 6 a day and you can come and go as much as you choose. As always great bed. Bathroom a bit small with only a shower stall but it had lots of room. The price is good for the hotel, but it is beginning to show signs of age.
