the room was comfortable with a view over the pool area. the pool itself was a great place to hang out, as was the adjacent courtyard with comfortable chairs. a BIG shoutout to Marcus Poinsett, the bellman, who took care of us on a daily basis: from getting us settled in our room, to greeting us warmly each day, to his lunch recommendation in the historic district (poogan's porch: try the fried green tomato BLT!). Marcus made a fine, comfortable stay even more terrific with his genuine hospitality!

I recently stayed at this Marriott and the hotel is quite nice. I enjoyed the outdoor space and our room was very nice. We stayed on the concierge level and I was disappointed that the concierge lounge was closed all day on Saturday and did not open until 5 p.m. on sunday. Considering that we were only there for a weekend and were paying for the concierge service,

I was also disappointed in the service at the bar. The hotel had two seminars going on and the lounge/restuarant were both busy and they only had one bartender on duty. It was a bit of a wait for service and then it was not the friendliest of service. I understand that the bartender was probably overwhelmed, but someone should have anticipated that they might have needed additional staff with that number of people staying.

Room Tip: unless you are traveling during the week, don't pay for the concierge level service.

Thank you for your comments and I appreciate the candor about our concierge level. We do not open our lounge on weekends with the upgrade being the balconies with all those concierge level rooms.
We appreciate your business and hope you will give us another opportunity in the future.

Good hotel, clean room, good service. Convenient free shuttle every half hour to historic city center. Live music, full service restaurant. Stayed for 2 nights over Memorial Day using marriott rewards. Room was on 6th floor, ok view. Comfortable beds and spacious room.

Nice rooms, close to the water and a park across the street. A little pricey, good breakfast, nice workout room, great pool and hot tub. Roof top outdoor bar was good. Not close to any stores, so if you don't have a car, it's too far to walk to anything other than a McDonalds. They use those comforters on the bed that are way too hot. Or else you just use the sheet and then you are too cold. Give me a blanket please!!

Room Tip: Nothing particular better about one floor, or side that I could see.

What a hotel! These people here know what service is and give it. From the lady from Alabama who was from corporate to the manager and the front desk employees such as Sandreka and Ryland who are wonderful. What a pleasure it is to stay at this Hotel. When we leave it's almost like leaving family. We can't wait to come back again.

The Charleston Marriott was a nice, clean upscale hotel with excellent service. A rooftop bar/lounge was available along with a separate reasonably priced restaurant with bar. There was a nice, usable courtyard for relaxing along with an outdoor pool and spa. There is a Happy Hour and live music on Thur-Sat. The rooms were average size, clean with comfortable beds, large flat screen television, usable desk and refrigerator. An internet connection was only complimentary with some room packages and adequate for e-mail and web browsing but not video. The location was the major drawback unless you are looking for quiet. There are no restaurants or shopping within reasonable walking distance except for a few fast food joints. If you like minor league baseball the Single-A Charleston Riverdogs play within walking distance. There appears to be a number of empty buildings in the area although it seemed safe during the day and early evening. The hotel provides a van shuttle (every 30 minutes) to the historic district that runs until about 11pm. The distance is about 2-3 miles. The cost is a flat $6/day for unlimited trips.

Thank you for sharing your experience with our hotel. Yes, we are approximately 1.5 miles from the historic district, but we price ourselves below the hotels in historic district, offer free parking and provide shuttle service to downtown. Thank you for your business and hope to see you again on future visits to Charleston.

Stayed here for a chiropractic seminar June 11-June 13th, 2014. It is located near the Citadel, and the baseball stadium and great views overlooking a river. It has a great patio/courtyard with plush Caribbean type loungers and fire pits near it's pool area but separate and removed from the pool and a great place to hang out. They also had a lounge on the 4th floor overlooking the river area that was outdoor patio area to hang out and get a drink. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfortable and I'm picky since we have a Tempur Pedic mattress at home. The gym overlooks the pool and has fairly good equipment with weights, treadmills and elliptical machines. Didn't try the restaurants there so can't comment on them. The staff was friendly and very helpful and set up my family with tours and different things to do outside of the hotel. There was a wedding set up in the courtyard area while we were there and it seemed like a great quaint atmosphere. I would stay here again if we went back and I can recommend it as a great seminar facility as well!
